3 Middle Street is a deceptively spacious property in a fantastic location. Although it appears as a simple Cornish terrace from the outside, once you cross the threshold, you realise it is far more, with gracious proportions and enough space to sleep up to 10 people in five bedrooms. If you want a self-catering seaside holiday in Cornwall with your extended family and friends, this is the place for you. Being in the centre of Padstow’s Old Town puts you within walking distance of excellent pubs, fine dining restaurants and fish and chip shops, including the famed Stein’s Fish & Chips and Michelin Star’s Paul Ainsworth No 6 restaurant.
Padstow is a year-round destination. Lively in summer and laid-back in winter, it offers a fun and relaxing holiday at any time of year. There is always something interesting to see around the Harbour. It is packed with great cafes and restaurants to suit every budget, and it is lovely to pass an hour or two happily watching the fishing and pleasure boats go about their business as you enjoy a pint of local beer or an ice-cream. Kids love crabbing, even if they do not manage to catch anything. In the evening, when the day trippers have gone, you can enjoy a stroll along the harbour front and the sense of being local, even if only for the duration of your stay.
As well as its harbour, Padstow is famous for its fabulous beaches. Treyarnon, Tregirls and Trevone Bay are all nearby, or walk along the South West Coast Path to Harlyn Bay and catch the bus back to town if your legs are tired. The scenery is amazing. Cyclists will enjoy the Camel Trail, which is 18 miles of a mainly traffic-free cycle path and footpath that follows an old railway line through the Camel Estuary from Padstow to Wenford Bridge, passing through Wadebridge, Polbrock Bridge and Bodmin. Visit one of the towns or villages along the way for lunch, or pack a picnic and stop at one of the many beauty spots along the route.
Cycling and hiking are not the only ways you can enjoy being active in Padstow. Surfing, fishing, sailing, SUP and swimming are all very popular pastimes. If you prefer more genteel activities then perhaps a stroll through the house and gardens at Prideaux Place or Pencarrow House will tickle your fancy. If it is raining, head to Padstow Museum or one of the several art galleries and exhibitions. Alternatively, stop by the Newquay Lobster Hatchery and sponsor a lobster, or taste the produce at the Padstow Brewing Company. Flambards theme park has a range of indoor attractions as well as outdoor rides, or warm up in the climate-controlled domes of the Eden Project.
Whether you are a large family or on holiday with friends, the size and location of 3 Middle Street, right in the heart of Padstow’s historic Old Town and close to beaches, restaurants, shops and attractions, makes it the ideal place to stay. It can be equally cosy for 2/4 people on a quiet break.
