About 3 Middle Street

3 Middle Street is a deceptively spacious property in a fantastic location. Although it appears as a simple Cornish terrace from the outside, once you cross the threshold, you realise it is far more, with gracious proportions and enough space to sleep up to 10 people in five bedrooms. If you want a self-catering seaside holiday in Cornwall with your extended family and friends, this is the place for you. Being in the centre of Padstow’s Old Town puts you within walking distance of excellent pubs, fine dining restaurants and fish and chip shops, including the famed Stein’s Fish & Chips and Michelin Star’s Paul Ainsworth No 6 restaurant.

Padstow is a year-round destination. Lively in summer and laid-back in winter, it offers a fun and relaxing holiday at any time of year. There is always something interesting to see around the Harbour. It is packed with great cafes and restaurants to suit every budget, and it is lovely to pass an hour or two happily watching the fishing and pleasure boats go about their business as you enjoy a pint of local beer or an ice-cream. Kids love crabbing, even if they do not manage to catch anything. In the evening, when the day trippers have gone, you can enjoy a stroll along the harbour front and the sense of being local, even if only for the duration of your stay.

As well as its harbour, Padstow is famous for its fabulous beaches. Treyarnon, Tregirls and Trevone Bay are all nearby, or walk along the South West Coast Path to Harlyn Bay and catch the bus back to town if your legs are tired. The scenery is amazing. Cyclists will enjoy the Camel Trail, which is 18 miles of a mainly traffic-free cycle path and footpath that follows an old railway line through the Camel Estuary from Padstow to Wenford Bridge, passing through Wadebridge, Polbrock Bridge and Bodmin. Visit one of the towns or villages along the way for lunch, or pack a picnic and stop at one of the many beauty spots along the route.

Cycling and hiking are not the only ways you can enjoy being active in Padstow. Surfing, fishing, sailing, SUP and swimming are all very popular pastimes. If you prefer more genteel activities then perhaps a stroll through the house and gardens at Prideaux Place or Pencarrow House will tickle your fancy. If it is raining, head to Padstow Museum or one of the several art galleries and exhibitions. Alternatively, stop by the Newquay Lobster Hatchery and sponsor a lobster, or taste the produce at the Padstow Brewing Company. Flambards theme park has a range of indoor attractions as well as outdoor rides, or warm up in the climate-controlled domes of the Eden Project.

Whether you are a large family or on holiday with friends, the size and location of 3 Middle Street, right in the heart of Padstow’s historic Old Town and close to beaches, restaurants, shops and attractions, makes it the ideal place to stay. It can be equally cosy for 2/4 people on a quiet break.

Location (Cornwall)

Accommodation Comprises:

3 Middle Street is a 19th Century mid-terrace house with lots of original features including sash windows and high ceilings and oak beams.

Ground Floor:

  • Open-plan kitchen and living space which is great for socialising, but there are still some peaceful corners where you can read or chat quietly. The open plan layout also makes the most of the natural light coming in through the front and rear windows.
  • The living room is at the front of the house, with a bay window and lots of comfortable seating. Underfloor heating ensures the house is always the right temperature, while a coal-effect gas fire adds a cosy ambience in winter. Glazed doors mean that you can shut the room off from the kitchen to create two separate spaces or leave it open for one larger area to socialise.
  • The kitchen/dining room area is at the rear of the property. Unlike the sitting room, which is carpeted, it has wide wooden floorboards that fit the country-kitchen style. A long rectangular table sits in the centre of the room. When it isn't being used for eating, it provides extra bench space for preparing meals.
  • The kitchen is a pleasure to use, even if you are cooking for a hungry horde. A range cooker sits in the alcove where the original fire place once was, and there is ample storage for food as well as utensils and crockery in the cupboards. A separate utility next door has an extra sink, a dishwasher and a washing machine and clothes drying facility. A door leads into the garden.

First Floor:

  • Three of the five bedrooms are on the first floor, two of which have double beds, and one which has bunk beds. All are spacious with good storage, bedside tables and reading lights.
  • A family bathroom is off the landing. It features a bath with an electric shower above, a WC and a hand basin renewed in 2024.
  • There is an additional cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin on this level.

Second Floor:

  • The top floor has a twin room, with two full-sized single beds. The third double room has zip-link beds which can be set up as a king-sized bed or two single beds, allowing flexibility in the layout to suit your requirements. The double room also has lovely views of the estuary in the distance.
  • A shower room has a large walk-in shower, WC and handbasin.

Outside: Being at the rear of the property means the paved courtyard garden is peaceful and private. The garden has a barbecue, chiminea and garden furniture so you can make the most of the weather. There is also an outdoor shower and WC for convenience and washing off sand. The property has an allocated parking space a 3-minute walk away on North Quay.

Additional Information: WiFi, utilities (electric heating), 100% cotton bed linen and bath towels are included in the price. Guests to bring their own beach towels. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior agreement from the owner for a small additional surcharge. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. No smoking.
