Hideaway Cottage sleeps two guests and is a magical retreat for couples perfectly placed within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Sitting in Wensleydale, this romantic bolthole provides a taste of country life and the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of modern living.
From the moment you arrive this cosy cottage provides a huge welcome. Sitting in a picturesque setting in the village of Fearby, the surrounding countryside is spectacular and the village has immense appeal with its welcoming pub, The Black Swan, just a short stroll from the cottage.
The attractive market town of Masham is only a mile away and within walking or easy driving distance. Famed for brewing fine ales, Masham offers a good range of amenities set around its Georgian market square. There are plenty of shops for stocking up on those all important provisions including a deli, butchers, bakery and grocers, along with independent shops to browse for those extra special treats such as gifts, clothes, art work, sweets and even flowers for those feeling romantic! Masham offers a good choice of places to enjoy a meal out, whether you fancy traditional fish and chips, a pub meal or fine dining. There is a twice weekly market for sampling local produce and of course Theakston and Black Sheep breweries supplying some of the areas finest ale, right on the doorstep.
The surrounding area provides a vast outdoor playground for outdoor enthusiasts and offers a host of attractions and great days out dotted throughout Wensleydale, Swaledale and the rest of the national park. If your passion is walking, cycling, bird watching, kayaking, fishing or climbing you are in for a real treat with a glorious landscape made up of rolling dales, rugged moorland, lush meadows, wooded areas and sparkling rivers.
Wander around Hackfall Woods (managed by the Woodland Trust) in nearby Grewelthorpe, where you will see a forty foot waterfall and ancient follies or visit the mysterious Druid Temple at Ilton just west of Masham - not quite as big as Stonehenge but every bit as magical in a smaller way with its enchanting setting.
For those happy to travel a little further afield, why not explore Brimham Rocks or the beautiful NT world heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal - all within easy driving distance of the cottage. The Spa town of Harrogate, famed for Betty’s Tea Rooms and its Turkish Baths is also just over half an hour away by car and has plenty of attractions to offer, as does the North Yorkshire Moors National Park which is accessible by car.
There really is so much to do in this fabulous area - you can do as much or as little as you like whilst on holiday in Yorkshire.
