Hackney House sleeps 12 people in six bedrooms, five of which are ensuite. It's an ideal holiday home in the Yorkshire Dales for couples, friends, families, and multi-generational families to be together. Guests who have stayed at Hackney House love that the kitchen is big enough for group self-catering and that the location on the edge of Reeth gives them excellent access to the village amenities and the rugged beauty of the Swaledale countryside. There are three pubs that serve food, an ice cream parlour and a children's play area within a few minutes' walk. Anyone who has been to Yorkshire knows there's always a warm welcome and a fresh cup of tea ready and waiting!
Reeth has panoramic views from its elevated position above the River Swale. It's a big village with an authentic sense of community. You'll immediately feel at home whether you're popping into the village shop, walking your dog beside Arkle Beck, a tributary of the River Swale, or sipping on a pint of locally brewed ale at The Buck or The Black Bull pubs. Don't miss a visit to the Swaledale Museum to learn more about the farmers and miners who helped shape the landscape. Stop by the National Park Centre in Hudson House for maps and helpful information about places to see and things to do in the local area.
Any groceries or items you can't find in Reeth can be bought in Richmond or Catterick, a 20-25 minute drive from Hackney House. Barnard Castle, Hawes and Leyburn also have places to eat and shop. Go walking to Aysgarth Falls or High Force, or take your swimming trunks and a picnic to Wain Wath Force. Other local routes go to Fremington Edge, Gunnerside Gill and Kisdon Hill. You can tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and climb Ingleside, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside. The Swale Trail and the Coast to Coast Walk are other options.
Hackney House is excellent for summer holidays but has the AGA and logs burners, which are cosy and welcoming in winter.
