About Pump Hill Barn

Pump Hill Barn dates from the 1800s and has the original stonework and beams to prove it. Located in the pretty village of Aberford, the holiday cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms. The village has a local pub, a children's playground and a Village Coffee Shop which sells basic essentials. Major supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and a retail park are only a 10 mins drive away. Whether you need somewhere to stay whilst working in Leeds or York or looking to explore the region, Pump Hill Barn is warm, welcoming and equipped for all your needs.

Aberford has excellent road links and a mainline train station at Garforth makes it simple to explore the region. York, Leeds and Harrogate are all within half an hour's drive, each offering a wealth of attractions and places to eat, drink and shop.

If you've come to Pump Hill Barn on a walking holiday, then you will be delighted by the variety of walks in the area. The Aberford Triumphal Arch in the Parlington Estate is only a mile away, while the Lotherton Hall house and grounds are only half a mile further. A longer walk will take you to the stone cross marking the site of the Battle of Towton, where 50,000 men fought in hand-to-hand combat on 29 March 1461. The victory saw the Yorkist forces of Edward IV defeat the Lancastrian supporters of Henry VI, ending, at least for a few years, the War of the Roses.

Places to visit during your stay include the magnificent Castle Howard, RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Bramham Park, Newby Hall and Gardens, the National Railway Museum and Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve.

For a family day out, Stockeld Park in Wetherby offers a variety of seasonal and permanent attractions including indoor and outdoor play areas, a giant maze, and seasonal activities such as ice skating in the winter and outdoor events in the summer. Temple Newsam House and Farm is seven miles away and has a GO Ape adventure park in the grounds.

For golfing enthusiasts, both Garforth and Tadcaster Golf courses are a short drive away.

The 200-year-old Pump Hill Barn welcomes visitors all year round. The owners live in the cottage next door, so they are nearby if you have any questions.

Accommodation Comprises:

Pump Hill Barn is a period cottage with original features and accommodation over three levels.

Ground Floor:

Twin room with two single beds separated by a bedside table with drawers.
Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC and a handbasin.

First Floor:

Welcoming living room with a high ceiling and exposed original beams and solid wood floors. There are two sofas and a relaxed chair, shelves with books and games, and a TV with Freeview channels and a DVD player.
Fitted kitchen with a conservatory extension that houses the dining room. It's a lovely light space well-equipped for self-catering, with appliances that include a dishwasher, a small range cooker, and a microwave.

Second Floor:

Master bedroom with a double bed, bedside tables and reading lights.
Wet room with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
A mezzanine level is big enough to accommodate one or two more guests on airbeds. Please check with the owner when booking.

The cottage also has a basement with laundry and cleaning facilities.

Outside: Pump Hill Barn has enclosed gardens with a lawn and a patio with outdoor furniture. There is off road parking for one car on the driveway and additional parking close by.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are all provided. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
