The Swallows is a stunning lakeside penthouse on Elmbridge Farm near Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire. The spacious self-catering property sleeps five people in two bedrooms with two bathrooms and a layout as welcoming for friends as it is for couples and families. The rural location is incredibly relaxing and offers three well-stocked fishing lakes, woodland walks and cycling routes. You can hire rods and bikes from the owners, so you don't have to worry about trying to fit everything in the car. The Swallows is exceptionally well-equipped for a self-catering holiday, but you're less than half a mile from The Chequers in Cutnall Green for a pint and a tasty meal you don't have to cook.
Elmbridge Farm is blissfully quiet. If you want to laze on your balcony all day, listening to the birds as you admire views of the lake, you can. However, if you're the sort of person who loves being active, you'll find that easy as well. Head out of the farm's gates, and you'll find yourself in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, with many miles of footpaths, bridleways and cycling trails to explore. The owners have landscaped their grounds with three fishing lakes and scenic walks. There's even the opportunity for a private yoga class. Try your hand at clay-pigeon shooting, hire a canoe to paddle a stretch of the River Severn, and test your nerve on the high ropes course at Go Ape at Wyre Forest.
The Swallows isn't only suitable for fans of the Great Outdoors. Follow in the footsteps of The Bard and see Shakespeare's Birthplace at Stratford-Upon-Avon, give your credit card a workout at the upmarket boutiques of Montpellier in Cheltenham or go for cheap and cheerful at Birmingham's Bullring and the largest Primark in Britain. Malvern and Worcester are great for brunch and browsing, as is Droitwich Spa and Broadway. Kids love West Midlands Safari Park, Cadbury World and Adam Henson's Cotswold's Farm Park. If you're child-free, plan to visit the Piston Gin Distillery or the Museum of Royal Worcester. Attractions for all ages include Worcester Cathedral, Warwick Castle, Kenilworth Castle, the Black Country Living Museum.
Whether you can only escape for a few nights or you're searching for a holiday home where you can relax and settle in for a week or more, The Swallows is ideal for anyone who appreciates comfort and beauty. It is one of four holiday cottages (above "Warbler") which you can book together to accommodate couples or families on holiday together.
