Herdwick Hut is the largest and most luxurious of the shepherd huts at Tilbury Farm, offering a cosy, self-contained holiday rental on the edge of Exmoor National Park. With far-reaching views over Taunton Vale and the Quantock Hills, this thoughtfully designed retreat sleeps up to 4 adults and is ideal for romantic breaks, solo escapes or small group stays. Inside, you'll find a wood-burning Devon baker stove, charming Farrow & Ball finishes, William Morris textiles, and all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. A favourite highlight is the private, wood-fired hot tub and outdoor deck for soaking up the incredible sunsets.
Situated in a peaceful woodland setting, the hut is a superb base for exploring the Somerset countryside. Right from your doorstep, you can head off on footpaths into the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or enjoy nearby cycling routes and wildlife spotting opportunities. The pretty market town of Taunton is a short drive away, offering independent shops, great food, and a lively arts scene, while the coast is just 30 minutes by car for lazy days on the beach and walking the coastal footpath.
Further afield, the sweeping landscapes of Exmoor National Park offer endless opportunities for adventure from peaceful moorland walks and dramatic coastal drives to stargazing beneath some of the darkest skies in the country. Spend the day exploring historic villages like Dunster or Porlock, visit local National Trust sites, or simply enjoy a leisurely pub lunch in one of the many cosy inns dotted around the region. Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, Herdwick Hut is the perfect base for discovering the best of Somerset’s countryside and coast.

Accommodation Comprises: Herdwick Hut is a spacious, hand-built shepherd’s hut sleeping up to 4 adults in comfort.
Outside: A private deck with stunning views across Taunton Vale features a kadai fire bowl with BBQ grill, dining furniture, and a wood-fired hot tub, available for exclusive use during your stay. You’ll also find secure bike storage, on-site laundry facilities, and off-street parking nearby. Guests are met on arrival, and luggage is transported to the hut, which is 150m from the parking area. EV charging is available at an additional cost.
Additional Information: Bed linen, towels, hot tub access and a welcome breakfast hamper included. Three bags of firewood provided per night (extra bags £5). Pet-free and non-smoking. £100 refundable damage deposit. Optional pre-heating of the hot tub (£30). Group stays are welcome, with a communal gazebo and pizza oven hire available.
