If you’re looking for a beach holiday in Wales then Llandudno tends to be the destination that gets recommended the most. Below are some of the best things to see and do when you’re staying in the area.

Where to Go in Llandudno

The beaches in Llandudno are famous for being some of the most beautiful in this part of Wales, so if you’re spending time in the town then you should definitely take a walk down to the shoreline. North Shore Beach is the most popular and has the most on offer, whereas West Shore Beach tends to get fewer visitors and is better for those looking for a quiet walking spot.

Llandudno Pier is a top attraction, originally built in the Victorian era and still home to some classic seaside things to do like arcade games. In the summer live performances are organised on the pier, but it’s a great spot to visit at any time, particularly if you’re on the lookout for dolphins.

Those looking to experience a bit of culture during their stay can go to Llandudno’s Oriel Mostyn Gallery, which is housed in an iconic terracotta building with a gold spire. Six gallery spaces showcase a range of different artists from both the local area and beyond, and there’s also an excellent gift shop and cafe.

What to Do in Llandudno

If you enjoy adrenaline-filled experiences then you should definitely visit the Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre, which is home to the longest toboggan ride in Wales. There is a range of things to do on offer here, but the 575m route is a real highlight.

Spending an afternoon at the Botanical Gardens at Happy Valley is another popular thing to do in Llandudno, especially in the summer when the gardens are full of people picnicking. You can then catch a cable car up to the Great Orme Summit Complex, where you can enjoy views of Snowdonia and catch the Great Orme Tramway back down.

If you have the time then taking a trip into Snowdonia is a great way to see more of the area and enjoy a bit of walking or cycling. Or, stay a little closer to the town and visit nearby Conwy or Colwyn Bay.

Best Time to Visit Llandudno

Between May and September, Llandudno experiences its best weather of the year, so if you want to avoid the rain and cold temperatures as much as possible, this is the best time to visit the town. It can get incredibly busy right in the middle of summer when the schools are all on holiday, so if you’re hoping to avoid the crowds then we recommend visiting at either the start or the end of the peak tourist season.
