About Caerwen No.2

Caerwen Cottages are two 18th Century fisherman’s cottages in the beautiful village of Solva in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The houses are perfect for families and friends as each sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms. They are adjoining and, depending on availability, can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests. With Solva’s village store, cafes and pubs just a few minutes walk away, Caerwen Cottages are in a fantastic location for a stress-free holiday.

Solva is an ideal place to base yourself while exploring the wonders of the Pembrokeshire National Park. St Davids is only three miles away, and there are dozens of stunning beaches stretching up and down the coast. The long-distance Pembrokeshire Coast Footpath runs from Cardigan in the north all the way along the coast to Amroth in the south, including past the front gates of Caerwen Cottages. Whether you just want to stretch your legs for a gentle stroll or take advantage of the regular bus service that runs along the route to walk ten or more miles, time on the footpath is an experience to treasure.

Although Pembrokeshire is a popular holiday destination all year round, it comes alive in summer when holidaymakers flock to its stunning beaches. When the tide is low, Solva is a delight of rock pools and caves to explore, with a sheltered position that makes it calm and safe for swimming. Nearby Newgale Beach is a vast, two-mile expanse of sand and sea that is popular with surfers and kite surfers, while slightly further south, Broad Haven is perfect for families as it has good amenities. Caerfai is a small, secluded beach between Solva and St Davids, while surfers like Whitesands for its consistent break.

Although it has a reputation for adventure sports - it is the birthplace of coasteering, after all - the Pembrokeshire National Park offers a vast choice of activities to suit all tastes and budgets. Visit Pembroke Castle and see where Henry VII was born, and you should definitely go to St Davids and see the magnificent cathedral and picturesque ruins of the neighbouring Bishop’s Palace. Haverfordwest is the county town of Pembrokeshire and has a castle, museum, shops and lots of places to eat and drink, or spend a day mooching around Fishguard. There are boat tours taking visitors from St Davids to see dolphins and sea bird colonies. Whatever type of holiday you are planning, if it involves a comfortable, character-filled holiday home with incredible views, then Caerwen Cottages are perfect.
