Somerwood is truly special. As you drive through the gates and down the sweeping driveway, you will find yourself mentally moving in. The large eco-friendly holiday home comfortably sleeps up to 16 guests in eight beautiful bedrooms, with a layout that makes it as perfect for families and extended families as for fun get-togethers with your friends. It is only half a mile from the charming village of Ribchester, putting you a relaxed 10-15 minute stroll from shops, cafes and friendly pubs like the Ribchester Arms.
Ribchester is a fantastic base from which to explore the beautiful Ribble Valley as it offers easy access to miles of footpaths, cycling routes and bridleways that wind their way through spectacular countryside and beside the River Ribble. Ribchester was a Roman settlement, and some of Bremetennacum fort lies beneath the church. You can find out more about this part of Ribchester's history at the Roman Museum.
Spend a day exploring the lovely market town of Whalley, which has a ruined abbey and a parish church dating back to 628CE, as well as an excellent variety of places to eat, drink and shop. Longridge is the best place to stock up on provisions for your self-catering holiday, and there's also a retro cinema with ruby-red seats and drinks served in proper glasses and teacups. Other local attractions include Clitheroe Castle, Stonyhurst College, Beacon Fell, Brockholes Nature Reserve, and the Bowland Wild Boar Park. Somerwood is close to the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, and there are some fantastic mountain bike trails in the vicinity. For those happy to travel further afield, the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks are within easy reach by car for a day trip, opening up an even larger choice of attractions and opportunities for outdoor adventure.
The owners of Somerwood are keen to ensure their guests have a wonderfully memorable stay and are happy to recommend local businesses who can provide services like catering and spa treatments. There are several popular wedding venues nearby, and the house is a favourite with couples accommodating their wedding party and out-of-town family for their big day. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just catching up with your extended family and friends, Somerwood and Ribchester are just perfect.
