Royal Garden Suite has a sense of quiet elegance that’s hard to find. Sitting within the Hermitage Estate, it gives you space to switch off without feeling cut off from life altogether. The house itself is part of a handsome period building but the interiors are fresh and contemporary. Two generously sized bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, make it easy for friends or family to share without compromise. The living space is bright and open, and the kitchen has everything you need if you enjoy cooking while you’re away. In the evenings, you can linger over a drink in the games room or sit at the piano and play a tune before stepping outside to the hot tub. With the river close by and gardens wrapping around the terrace, this is a place made for slow mornings and late nights under the stars.
Halton village is just beyond the estate gates, a short walk if you fancy a stretch of the legs. It’s small but friendly, with riverside paths and a local café where the coffee is strong, and the welcome is warm. A few minutes in the car takes you into Lancaster, a city that manages to feel both historic and lively at the same time. Cobbled streets and Georgian buildings give it character, while markets and independent shops make browsing a pleasure. Pick up something for supper, call in at a deli for treats, or book a table at one of the city’s excellent restaurants. And if history is your thing, you won’t want to miss the castle tour – it’s a fascinating look at a thousand years of stories.
When you’re ready to go further afield, you’re spoilt for choice. Morecambe Bay is close enough for a coastal walk and fish and chips on the promenade, while the Lake District is under an hour away for those who want mountains and water in their day. Silverdale and Arnside are favourites for birdwatchers and walkers, and closer still, Capernwray offers clear-water diving for the adventurous. Gresgarth Hall Gardens make a pretty outing, and Crook O’Lune is a favourite spot for a riverside picnic. However you spend your time, you’ll be glad to come back to the comfort of Royal Garden Suite – lights low, hot tub steaming, and nothing but the sound of the river in the distance.

Accommodation Comprises: Royal Garden Suite is set on one level, with each space planned to feel relaxed and inviting.
Outside: Step out into a private garden where there’s room to eat, sit back, and watch the evening settle in. The paved terrace holds the hot tub and outdoor furniture, while a fire pit gives you a reason to stay out long after sunset. Two parking spaces are set aside for guests, and you’re free to wander the paths around the estate whenever you fancy a stroll.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, bath towels and toiletries are included. Short breaks are available throughout the year, subject to availability. The owners cannot offer cannot offer Saturday check in or check out.
