The Middleton Towers breaks every rule about what a beachfront holiday cottage should look like which is exactly why people fall in love with it. This isn't a converted Victorian terrace or renovated farmhouse; it's a purpose-built holiday rental that dares to be different, complete with an honest-to-goodness tower jutting skyward from landscaped gardens. Sixteen guests spread across five individually themed bedrooms, each one designed with the kind of attention to detail that makes you wonder if you've actually booked into a boutique hotel. The tower itself houses a shisha lounge and bar, but climb to the very top and you'll find yourself in a rooftop lookout where evening fires burn against backdrops of endless ocean. Groups of friends celebrating milestones, extended families gathering for special occasions, and anyone planning an event that needs serious bragging rights all find their perfect match here. Contemporary touches meet playful design throughout, while amenities like the private heated pool and spa facilities ensure everyone finds their own way to unwind.
Morecambe has always marched to its own beat, and this seaside town wears its quirky character with pride. The promenade stretches for miles, where dog walkers mix with joggers and families pushing prams, all united by those legendary sunsets that turn the entire bay golden every evening. Eric Morecambe's statue keeps watch over visitors who discover that fish and chips taste different when eaten with sand between your toes and salt air filling your lungs. The friendly Middleton Pub sits close enough for evening strolls when cooking feels like too much effort after days spent exploring, while traditional seaside attractions like amusement arcades and ice cream parlours remind you that some pleasures never go out of style. Heysham harbour bustles with working boats and Isle of Man ferries, adding an authentic maritime atmosphere to complement the tourist charm.
Beyond Morecambe's boundaries, the landscape opens into some of Northern England's most celebrated scenery. The Lake District begins practically next door, where Windermere and Coniston Water offer everything from peaceful lake cruises to challenging fell walks that reward effort with views across multiple counties. The Yorkshire Dales roll eastward in waves of green hills dotted with stone-built villages where time seems to move at sheep-grazing pace. Closer to home, the Forest of Bowland offers gentler walking through ancient woodlands, where bluebells carpet the forest floors each spring. Lancaster's medieval castle tells stories spanning nearly ten centuries, while the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty combines coastal drama with countryside tranquillity. Adventure seekers can try kayaking on river systems, explore underground cave networks, or simply follow coastal paths where limestone cliffs drop dramatically into waters that change colour with weather and season.
