There’s even a piano if you fancy filling the evening with music and in the games room you will find a snooker, and fooseball table. Step outside and the scene is just as inviting: manicured gardens, a terrace made for outdoor living, a masonry bbq and a private hot tub where you can sink back and watch the water drift by. With two lovely bedrooms, it’s a perfect fit for a couple’s escape, a small family holiday, or a few friends looking for somewhere special to unwind.
Although the estate feels wonderfully private, the village of Halton is just around the corner. Take a gentle stroll to the community hub for a good coffee, or follow one of the paths along the riverbank for an easy afternoon walk. When you’re ready to explore further, Lancaster is a short drive away and full of character. Spend time browsing its independent shops, settle in for lunch at one of the many excellent cafés, or take a guided tour of Lancaster Castle to discover over a thousand years of history. Georgian streets, friendly pubs, and a lively food scene make the city a brilliant contrast to the calm of your riverside base.
If you’re tempted by the outdoors, then you’re in the right place. Head to Arnside & Silverdale, where coastal views and peaceful nature trails are an easy 30-minute drive, or plan a day in the Lake District for classic fell walks and shimmering lakes just under an hour away. Closer to home, the River Lune is perfect for a spot of fishing or kayaking, while Capernwray’s clear waters are popular with divers. Gresgarth Hall Gardens is another gem for a leisurely outing, and Crook O’Lune makes a lovely picnic stop. Whether your idea of a holiday is getting out and about or simply staying put with a good book and the hot tub waiting outside, Hermitage Cottage offers the space and setting to do it your way.

Outside: Step out to a private garden where lawns and a paved terrace meet the gentle flow of the River Lune. A bubbling hot tub takes centre stage, while outdoor dining furniture and a masonry barbecue make it easy to enjoy long summer evenings in the fresh air. There’s a firepit for cooler nights and plenty of space to unwind. Parking for two cars is available right outside, and guests are free to explore the estate’s paths for relaxed walks surrounded by nature.
Additional Information: Dog-friendly (pet fee applies). Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. Self check-in via lockbox. The owners are unable to accommodate Saturday changeover days.
