Oak Bank Farm is a traditional style cottage with modern eco-friendly features and plenty of space for up to 14 people to sleep in six beautiful bedrooms. It is half a mile from Ribchester and a leisurely 10-15 minute stroll from a park, cafes and welcoming pubs that include the Ribchester Arms. The house is a favourite with extended families and groups of friends who are on holiday, either catching up, celebrating a milestone birthday or attending a wedding.
Ribchester gives visitors a delicious taste of why the Ribble Valley is a favourite place for people who love being outdoors. The landscape is breathtaking. Waymarked footpaths like the Tolkein Trail, named for the famous author who enjoyed spending time at nearby Stonyhurst College, make exploration simple. Challenge yourself by hiking to the top of Bowland or Longridge Fells, or take the easier, but no less charming, flat footpath beside the River Ribble. The Forest of Bowland AONB is only a few miles from the cottage and is a favourite with mountain bikers, while local golf courses and riding stables provide more ways to enjoy the scenery. For those happy to travel further afield, the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks are within easy reach by car for a day trip, opening up an even larger choice of attractions and opportunities for outdoor adventure.
Longridge is a short drive from the cottage, with three supermarkets, antique shops, pubs and takeaways. It sits at the foot of Longridge Fell and once hosted Oliver Cromwell and his army as they went to the Battle of Preston in 1648. It is a great place to pick up groceries for your stay. Alternatively, you may prefer to shop at the regular Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday market in Clitheroe, about a 20-minute drive away with an excellent variety of specialist shops, a tiny Norman castle and a respected golf club. Other places to see include Waddington (a recipient of multiple "Best Kept Village in Lancashire" Awards), Whalley, Hurst Green, Downham, Gisburn and Sawley.
Oak Bank Farm is one in a portfolio of superb self-catering properties managed by Ribble Valley Holiday Homes. Being close to some of the region's premier wedding venues, it is often booked by couples either as a place to stay with their bridal party before their wedding or to host friends and family from out of town. You can find out more on their website.
