There’s plenty to do in the town and the surrounding area, and below are some of the activities and attractions that come highly recommended.
The colourful waterfront houses are one of the signature features of Aberdyfi, and taking a stroll to visit the promenade is a great way to spend a morning. Admire the boats in the picturesque harbour and then try your hand at crab fishing off the jetty, all whilst admiring the views of Cardigan Bay.
Aberdyfi Beach has miles of sand dunes and is one of the best places to go when you’re spending time in the town. On sunny days you can expect to see plenty of families spending on the sand or braving the chilly water, whilst dog walkers make the most of the huge length of the beach at all times of year on walks from morning until it gets dark.
There are plenty of things to do in the area around Aberdyfi, such as exploring other areas of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. The Dyfi National Nature Reserve can also be found just to the south of the town and is part of the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, home to plenty of different species of Welsh wildlife.
The number one activity enjoyed by guests in Aberdyfi is watersports out in the sea that the town overlooks. Sailing is particularly popular on windy days, whilst things like kayaking, paddle boarding and windsurfing are also all on offer.
Aberdyfi is also known for being a brilliant destination for playing golf, with the town’s golf club being home to one of the oldest links courses in the UK. There are a range of tees for all abilities, all offering incredible views of Cardigan Bay and the rugged coastal scenery.
If you’re visiting Aberdyfi on a sunny day, be sure to stop by The Sweet Shop on the waterfront. The ice cream here is made from ingredients fresh from the dairy across the road and is one of the top locations for artisan desserts in the whole area.
Seaside villages in the UK like Aberdyfi are best visited when it is warm, as this will make spending time on the beach, swimming in the sea and enjoying other outdoor activities much more pleasant. The weather in Aberdyfi is at its warmest and driest in the summer between June and September, with the hottest and driest weeks of the year taking place in August.
