About Red Hurworth Farm

Red Hurworth Farm has fantastic views of Hurworth Burn Reservoir in Wingate near Durham. After a busy day of walking, mountain biking, sightseeing or playing in the garden, you can settle back in the outdoor hot tub and thank your lucky stars that you chose to stay here. The house sits in extensive grounds at the end of a quiet country lane with no passing traffic. There is space for 12 people to sleep in five bedrooms, with families, extended families, and friends.

You don't have to go anywhere to have a fun-filled day when you stay at Red Hurworth Farm. The grounds are perfect for children to run and play. There are woods to build dens, a lawn for ball games and turning cartwheels, a long driveway for scooters, a deck with an outdoor hot tub and a second deck with a barbecue and outdoor furniture. It's all here, you just need to bring the food and your family! However, there is so much to see and do during your stay, that it would be a shame to miss out by not exploring. Fill your days walking through the gorgeous countryside around the property with walks from the door including the Castle Eden Walkway and beside the River Skerne. Cycling is another favourite way to explore and you can enjoy being outdoors by playing golf, fishing, and horse riding.

Day trips can include sightseeing in Durham where there is a magnificent cathedral, a castle, and the Botanical Gardens, as well as museums, shops and restaurants. Take the train from Durham to Newcastle, or stay local and visit Hardwick Country Park or the Beamish open-air museum. The Durham Heritage Coast also has lots to offer with lovely walks and beaches including Crimdon Dene (little ones will love rock pooling!) and Seaton Carew beach with a new water park.

Red Hurworth Farm is available for short breaks (minimum of two nights) and longer stays all year round.
