Avelin Cottage is a gorgeous stone holiday cottage in a scenic location 1.5 miles outside Barnard Castle. Its beautifully presented, modern country decor perfectly complements the far-reaching views over the open countryside outside Barnard Castle. Guests rave about this property, loving everything from the self-catering facilities to the location and the luxurious spa-retreat features of an infrared sauna. It's the perfect place for couples or solo travellers to take a relaxing break from their hectic everyday lives and unwind, surrounded by incredible scenery and fantastic attractions.
Barnard Castle, or Barney as locals affectionately term it, is one of the loveliest market towns in the northeast. Set beside the River Tees, winding lanes with independent shops, cafes and restaurants shelter within sight of the medieval fortress once owned by Richard III. It's a lovely walk from the cottage to the castle, your efforts rewarded with stunning views of the Tees Gorge. The Teesdale Way, Deepdale, and Flatts Wood are popular with visitors and locals, but there are no wrong choices when choosing a walking or cycling route around the Durham Dales as the landscape is so impressive.
Local attractions include the majestic Grade-I chateau housing the breathtaking collections of the Bowes Museum which has ties to the late Queen Mother. Raby Castle, Auckland Castle, Richmond Castle and Eggleston Hall are within easy reach. If you prefer a day walking outdoors, then Hamsterley Forest and Low Force are less than ten miles from Avelin Cottage, as are Bowes Castle and the Stanwick Iron Age fortifications at Brigantes. Barnard Castle is on the southern border of the North Pennines AONB, about 50 miles south of Hadrian's Wall and the Northumberland National Park and an hour from the coast and its enormous beaches.
Avelin Cottage is available for holidays all year round in a setting that is as lovely and welcoming in spring and summer as in cold weather.

Aveline Cottage is a single-storey cottage with a private garden overlooking fields and countryside.
Outside: A lovingly tended garden with seating and two summer houses. There is off-street parking on the driveway at the front of the house. There is an outdoor shed which houses the washer and tumble dryer.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Minimum three night booking. Smoking and pets are not permitted.
