Best's Cottage sleeps up to five guests and affords a prime position overlooking Mevagissey's picturesque harbour. Enjoying a sunny aspect, the cottage dates back some two hundred years and has a great choice of pubs, cafes and shops on the doorstep, as well as glorious beaches, an abundance of attractions for day trips out and miles of coastal footpath to explore.
Cosy and homely, Best's cottage has three bedrooms, with the double bedroom having lovely views over the harbour and beyond to Chapel Point on a fine day - what better way to start to the day with the view of the sea greeting you when you open the curtains!
Mevagissey has its roots firmly in fishing and still today has a bustling harbour with fishing boats and leisure boats coming and going. Once at the very heart of Cornwall's pilchard industry, today you can still buy the 'catch of the day' from the harbour front for a fish supper back at the cottage, or sample it in one of the pubs or restaurants in the town.
Popular with tourists, this beautiful stretch of coastline is peppered with golden beaches and peaceful hidden coves. A little way from the harbour to the North is Pentewan beach with a big sandy beach popular for swimming, surfing and lazing. Portmellon is another popular choice half a mile from Mevagissey harbour with its quiet sheltered sands. Mevagissey also has a good selection of shops to browse as well as a museum where you can learn about the local history, the Mevagissey Model Railway and shop, and an aquarium.
Hire a boat from the harbour and have fun exploring the water, or take a boat trip to nearby Fowey with its bustling town, glorious beaches and stunning estuary teeming with wildlife. There are excellent opportunities for those who enjoy fishing, walking the South West Coastal Path, and also cycling with the Pentewan Trail offering traffic free fun.
For those who can tear themselves away from the beauty of Mevagissey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan are close by and provide a great day out. Head to the pretty unspoilt port of Charlestown which is full of Georgian character and often used as a filmset with its small but spectacular fleet of Tall Ships. Explore the Roseland Peninsula or visit the world famous Eden Project - the choices are endless!
PLEASE NOTE: Part of the charm of Best's Cottage is it's unique situation right on the coast path, one of a number of historic fisherman's cottages, overlooking the harbour. Please be aware that this means the cottage is only accessible by foot. Passengers and luggage can be dropped on the harbour, 2 mins walk away, and long stay parking is available in the village. Public transport is also possible with trains to St Austell and then regular buses to Meva.

Outside: There is a bench at the front of the cottage where you can sit out and soak up the view.
Additional information: A travel cot is available (but please bring your own bedding for the cot as it is not provided). WiFi internet access available in the cottage. The rental prices include electricity and heating as well as bedlinen and towels. Dogs welcome. Short breaks (three night minimum) available at certain times of the year, please enquire with the owner. Parking is in the village in the pay and display car parks.
