The Stable is a cosy haven for couples in the heart of the glorious Yorkshire countryside. This cosy conversion, which is attached to the owner’s farmhouse, has been skilfully transformed into a beautiful cottage with exposed beams and generous windows that look out onto some of the most beautiful views in North Yorkshire. Set in a peaceful location in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is ideal for exploring the region.
High Ellington is a small, farming hamlet with a wonderful rural feel. The loudest noises you are likely to hear are the bleating of sheep in nearby fields or the efforts of a particularly enthusiastic woodpecker in the garden. Just over two miles away, the ancient market town of Masham has been a focal point for the local community for centuries. It has several excellent pubs and is home to the famous Theakston Brewery and the Black Sheep Brewery. Masham has a fine collection of galleries, food shops and tearooms.
The winding lanes and sweeping hills make the Yorkshire Dales ideal for cyclists and walkers who don’t mind putting in the effort to be rewarded with a stunning view. Masham is on the eastern border of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and also within easy reach of the North York Moors National Park, providing endless opportunities for enjoying the unspoilt countryside first hand. There are many enjoyable walks and places of interest in the area including Jervaulx Abbey, Newby Hall, Thorpe Perrow Gardens and Arboretum and many more. How Stean Gorge is around eleven miles from The Stable, with more lovely walks, caves and the opportunity to abseil and canoe.
The Stable is perfectly located for couples who enjoy not only walking but shopping and eating too. Ripon, York, Darlington, Harrogate, Bedale, Thirsk and Richmond are all well within an hour’s drive, providing guests with fantastic sightseeing, shopping, country houses, museums and churches. The friendly owners have taken great care to create a welcoming space where you can switch off and relax.
