The Healthy Home Retreat is an extremely flexible solution to group accommodation in Yorkshire. As one property, it can sleep up to 17 people so is perfect for your hen weekend, a giant Christmas with your extended family or for getting the cousins together during the school holidays. The location is also pretty impressive. Guests are spoiled with a huge garden, incredible views and masses of space, yet are only a few miles south of Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Skipton is amazing. The friendly Yorkshire town has a busy market every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Browse for a bargain and pick up some locally reared meat and fresh veg for a barbecue or cooked dinner back at the house. You'll find everything from cheese to chairs at Skipton Market! It doesn't matter if you miss a market day because Skipton is well served by locally-owned shops and boutiques with a wide array of homewares, clothing, jewellery, food, drink, and whatever else you could desire. Other favourite pastimes in Skipton include visiting the castle, walking beside the canal, watching the lightning-paced sales at the indoor cattle mart, and strolling around Skipton Castle. The town regularly hosts festivals and events, so keep an eye on the calendar to see what's happening during your stay.
Walking and cycling opportunities are plentiful locally, with footpaths and cycling routes to suit every age and ability. One of the most famous trails is Yorkshire's Three Peaks Walk encompassing Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. At 23.5 miles of some of the most challenging terrain in England, it's not to be taken lightly, but completing it would certainly be a highlight of your holiday. Other walks around Skipton include paths to Goredale Scar from Malham, the Skipton to Settle Walk along part of the Dales Highway, and Sharp Haw. There's also a gentle path through the woodlands around Skipton Castle. Cyclists and mountain bikers have access to an excellent choice of on and off-road routes. You only have to step outside the gate for immediate access to dozens of scenic walks.
Day trips from The Healthy Home Retreat can include sightseeing in Haworth, famous for being home to the Bronte sisters, or sightseeing and shopping in Leeds. There are golf courses, activity centres where you can drive a 4x4 or paintball and breweries to tour. Like many guests, you may find that you're perfectly happy to stay at home and make good use of the cupboard full of games and the garden.
The Healthy Home Retreat is only ever rented as an entire house so you will not have to share the garden or other facilities. Please see the owner's website for more information.
