The Hollies is a beautiful holiday cottage in the vibrant Yorkshire town of Pickering, no more than a ten-minute stroll from shops, cafes, bars and pubs. The welcoming bungalow suits couples, families or friends, as there is space for four people in two bedrooms with a quiet garden and a recently refurbished interior with lots of space. There is plenty to appeal to everyone whether you are visiting for the excellent walking and cycling trails, love fine food or are fascinated by history. Maybe you simply want to see why the North Yorkshire Moors National Park is one of the UK's best-loved holiday destinations.
Pickering is perfect for a walking and cycling holiday. Just over the border from the national park and within easy reach of North Riding, Dalby Forest, and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are miles of footpaths and mountain bike trails to suit every discipline and ability. Road riders are enormous fans of North Yorkshire, with routes going through glorious countryside and along the spectacular coastline north from Scarborough. Favourite local walks include the 5.5-mile circular route from Pickering Castle. The walk to Falling Foss and Littlebeck is also gorgeous, with longer routes including footpaths to Roseberry Topping, Highcliff Nab and Cook’s Monument, and Urra Moor and The Wainstones. Mountain bikers can go to Dalby Forest and Newbridge Park or make extensive use of the miles of bridleways across the moors.
Local attractions include the medieval Pickering Castle, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, and Duncombe Park. The open-air Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole is always a great day out, as is a trip on the heritage North York Moors Railway, stopping at stations like Grosmont along the way. Choose from beautiful beaches or the historic city of York with its stunning Minster, both of which are around half an hour's drive from the cottage, or explore coastal towns like Whitby.
The Hollies has everything you could need for a fantastic holiday, including a sensational location that puts the best of North Yorkshire on your doorstep. It's available for holidays all year round.
