Rosie's Cottage is a classic barn conversation on the edge of the pretty village of Oulston in the Howardian Hills Area of Outsanding Natural Beauty. It is a gorgeous property with two spacious ensuite bedrooms that sleep four people and a layout that suits couples, families or friends. You'll love everything about the cottage, from the high standard of accommodation to the amazing views and huge choice of places to visit and activities to enjoy.
Oulston is tucked quietly away in the countryside between Malton and Thirsk. Protected as part of a conservation area, it has a timeless charm with pretty stone cottages surrounding a traditional village green. You don't even have to step outside the door of Rosie's Cottage to appreciate the scenic landscape, thanks to French doors that open onto the private patio. When you do, you'll find yourself within easy reach of the long-distance Foss Walk footpath that follows the river's route between Easingwold and York. The stretch near Crayke provides an excellent vantage point to see the Kilburn White Horse and the Howardian Hills. Staying at Rosie's cottage means you're only a few miles from the North York Moors National Park, with endless miles of mountains and moors to explore and enjoy.
North Yorkshire, and Malton in particular, is known as something of a foodie's delight. All that sightseeing will work up a serious appetite and what better way to satisfy it than with a shopping trip to Malton's delis, bakers, grocers and butchers, all of whom sell tasty local produce to cook at home. Thirsk, Easingwold and Helmsley also have a good choice of places to stock up for your self-catering holiday. Alternatively, book a table at one of the area's excellent pubs or restaurants and let someone else do the cooking (and the washing up!) for you.
Mix up relaxing country walks and long-distance bike rides with the excitement of the city. York's ancient city walls are only 30 minutes from the cottage, with a host of attractions that include an amazing Minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre. Other local attractions include Castle Howard, Flamingo Land, the Eden Camp of Modern History, and The World of James Herriot Museum.
Rosie's Cottage is one of two fantastic cottages on the family-run Burton House Farm. Depending on availability, they can be booked together to sleep up to eight friends or extended family members. Please see the owner's website for details.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, an initial basket of fuel for the wood burner are all provided, as is bed linen and bath towels. One well-behaved dog is welcome through prior arrangement. Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Smoking is not permitted.
