Lobster Pot Cottage has all of the charms of a traditional Whitby holiday cottage with every modern convenience you expect from a contemporary holiday home. The spacious property sleeps six people in three bedrooms, two of which have en-suites. It is in the West Cliff area of Whitby, within walking distance of attractions, cafes, shops and friendly pubs. The living space is open-plan in style suiting families and friends, and you'll be pleased with the dedicated off-street parking space, especially if you're staying during the summer holidays. With Whitby's famous beaches only a short walk from the door, and the North York Moors National Park just over a mile away, you'll never run short of things to do.
Whitby is a fantastic seaside town with an impressive history. Not only has it produced one of Britain's best-known explorers, Captain Cook, but it is famed for the ruins of Gothic Whitby Abbey - as dramatic today as when Bram Stoker visited in 1890 and used it as inspiration for his famous novel, Dracula. Lobster Pot Cottage is within walking distance of Whitby's best attractions and many beaches. A walk around town will take you past The Endeavour Experience, a full-sized floating museum of Captain Cook's ship that took him to Australia. You can climb the 199 steps to the pretty church of St Mary's, where you'll be grateful for the opportunity to sit down and admire the panoramic coastal view. Book a sightseeing trip on the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which departs from Whitby to Pickering across the moors - stopping at Goathland (famed for being Hogsmeade in the first of the Harry Potter films and Aidensfield in Heartbeat), Newtondale Halt and Levisham. Alternatively take a guided walking tour of Whitby (or a ghost walk, if you're brave enough).
Many guests don't touch their car for the duration of their holiday. Instead, they make good use of the excellent network of footpaths and cycling routes leading along the coast to Runswick Bay, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay, and Scarborough. Alternatively, the train between Whitby and Middlesborough which runs along the Esk Valley stops at places like Grosmont (the junction for the heritage railway), Danby, Castleton Moor, and Great Ayton. Whitby hosts an eclectic mix of fun festivals that include the bi-annual Goth Weekends, music festivals celebrating folk and northern soul, and an annual Fish and Chips weekend.
Lobster Pot Cottage is available for bookings all year round. With three generously sized bedrooms and three bathrooms, it's perfect for families, extended families, and friends.
