Ty Llo is a fantastic barn conversion in a superb location about 500 metres from the coast of Carmarthen Bay and estuary. The Wales Coast Path is accessible from the door, opening the way to beautiful walks with memorable views. The two-bedroom holiday cottage sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms, has a hot tub for guests to relax in and a layout that makes it ideal for couples or families.
The cottage is on Tanylan Farm, which is just outside of Kidwelly and close to Ferryside. It is tucked away between the Gower Peninsula, which was the first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK, and Pembrokeshire, so it's a perfect place for anyone who loves the seaside. The beaches range from vast sandy expanses like the seven-mile stretch at Pendine Sands to hidden rocky coves where you can sunbathe in seclusion. There are beaches with calm water for kayaking and paddle-boarding, while the Gower's beaches are some of the best in Wales for surfing. Go fishing from Llansteffan Beach, where sea bass is the catch of the day in summer and autumn, or go inland to the well-stocked Marsh Water Ponds.
With so much to see and do, you'll find it difficult to stay indoors. Play golf on one of six courses within a 30-minute drive, walk along the coastal footpath, along Kidwelly Canal, or around the lake at Llyn Llech Owain. There is a variety of castles in varying states of ruin, including the solid towers of Kidwelly Castle which are said to be haunted by Princess Gwenllian who was killed while storming the fortress in 1136. Brechfa Forest provides even more footpaths as well as purpose-built mountain bike trails.
Nearby attractions include Mumbles Pier, Oakwood Theme Park, Rhossili Bay, and the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Swansea and Tenby are both within reach for a day of shopping, sightseeing and lunch, and you can do your grocery shopping in nearby Carmarthen, where market days are Wednesday and Saturday, or Llanelli, which holds a market Thursdays and Saturdays. Place your bets at Ffos Las Racecourse or cheer on the Scarlets rugby team at their home stadium.
Ty Llo is one of six beautiful holiday properties at Tanylan Farm. It can be booked on its own or together with one or more of the other cottages to accommodate extended families and groups of friends. Please see the owner's website for information.
