About Bryntowy

Bryntowy is a fantastic detached holiday cottage with hot tub in a gorgeous location 500 metres from the coast of Cardigan Bay. The spacious property dates from the 16th Century and has been extended and updated to sleep up to six guests in three comfortable bedrooms, with a layout that is ideal for families or friends.

Tanylan Farm is ideally located for exploring the coast and the countryside. You can walk from the cottage to St Ishmael beach, following the West Coast Path around to the village where there's a friendly pub with a beer garden. Other local beaches include Llansteffan, Pembrey Beach, Pendine Sands and the National Trust's Rhossili Bay. Carmarthen Bay and the estuary are part of a Special Area of Conservation which helps to protect the plethora of birds and marine life that flourish in this naturally beautiful environment.

Being Wales, there are plenty of castles to add to your itinerary including Kidwelly Castle, Carmarthen Castle, Laugharne Castle, and the hilltop ruins of Dryslwyn Castle which make a wonderful destination for a walk and a picnic. Carmarthenshire and the Gower have some stunning walks ranging from the mile-long route from St Anthony's Well to Llansteffan, to the six mile route from Swansea to the Mumbles, and the RSPB Rhossili Coastal Trail. Cycling is another favourite way to explore, especially with the Celtic Cycle Trail Route 4 passing through the farm.

With six golf courses all within half an hour's drive, golfers are spoiled for choice. Sailing, fishing and bird watching are all popular with locals and visitors in every season. Other attractions include the Teifi Valley Railway, Gwilli Railway and the Llyn Brianne Reservoir. Swansea is about 20 miles or an easy 45-minute drive, while the market town of Carmarthen is 11 miles and 20-minutes away.

Bryntowy and Tanylan Farm are remote enough to feel like you're escaping the rat-race, yet within easy reach of good road links to make exploring this part of West Wales easy. Bryntowy is one of six charming cottages on Tanylan Farm, each of which can be booked on their own, or together to accommodate extended families and bigger groups of friends. Accommodation Comprises:

The owners of Bryntowy have carefully combined original features with modern comforts to create a unique holiday home that is full of character. Accommodation is over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • Light the log burner and put your feet up in the living room, where a stone fireplace and original oak beams highlight the age of the cottage. Thick stone walls help to keep the property cool in summer and warm in winter and, thanks to clever alterations, it feels light and spacious all year round.
  • A wooden staircase divides the living area from the dining room where there is a window overlooking the fields and a table which seats six people with room for elbows! As with the living room, the tiled floor with underfloor heating is a stylish and practical feature for modern families.
  • Cooking in the fitted kitchen is simple thanks to high-quality appliances that include a dishwasher, and an excellent array of utensils and equipment.
  • Families appreciate the utility room with a washing machine and space to dry coats and walking boots.

Upstairs:

  • You'll find a spooky secret in the master bedroom. In addition to the vaulted ceiling and oak beams, its original features include a so-called wrecker's window, said to have been lit to lure ships to nearby rocks where the wrecks would be plundered. It won't stop you from sleeping soundly in the room which has a double bed, bedside tables and a chest of drawers.
  • Both twin rooms have full-sized single beds, bedside tables and reading lights, as well as views towards Carmarthen Bay or over the surrounding countryside.
  • Family bathroom with a bath, separate shower, heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The enclosed patio area has furniture and a barbecue for lazy meals alfresco. The covered hot tub is a luxurious touch, and there is off-street parking for three cars. You can also make use to the swim pond and sauna.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, sheets and bath towels are provided together with a welcome basket of fuel for the log burner. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with the owner's prior agreement. A high chair, travel cot and stairgate are all available. Smoking is not permitted.
