Corner Cottage is a lovely single-storey period holiday cottage that is located in the quiet, friendly market town of Saxmundham, providing a perfect place for a relaxing break at any time of the year. Here you feel like you are stepping back in time to a more relaxed pace of life.
Saxmundham is a historic market-town (market-day Wednesday) which is positioned on the River Fromus, a tributary of the River Alde. The town is on the old coaching route from Lowestoft to London and many of the pretty cottages and shop-fronts are Georgian or Victorian as a result.
This town is ideally situated just four miles from Snape and eight miles from the popular coastal town of Aldeburgh - providing the ideal base to enjoy all that Suffolk and its beautiful coastline has to offer.
The area is also an excellent choice for Walking Holidays, with numerous planned out routes and it’s gentle terrain. And for Birdwatching too, with RSPB Minsmere just 6 miles away, Orford Ness approx 30 mins drive, and several other Nature Reserves locally.
Located just five hundred yards (less than 5 mins walk) from the Saxmundham's High Street, Corner Cottage is close to the good selection of independent shops to browse. There is also a newsagents, stationers, bakers, chemist, hairdressers, plus two supermarkets - Waitrose and Tesco (both open 7 days). This charming town even has its own Museum and two small art galleries, along with a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and take-away outlets catering for all tastes and budgets.
Evening meal recommendations include... The Bell, The Bistro, and The Queens Head - all in the High Street.
For a leisurely stroll in the evening or after Sunday lunch, Carlton Country Park is just ten minutes walk away and you are able to take a short bus ride (or jump in a taxi) to nearby Leiston, Snape (with its concert hall and independent shopping) or the seaside town of Aldeburgh for an evening at the theatre, cinema, or a meal. Alternatively you may decide to stay more locally and try the “Poacher’s Pocket” - a traditional, quaint country pub serving home-cooked meals and real ales (just five minutes by car or a pleasant 30 minute walk through the Country Park).

Corner Cottage is a traditional Suffolk flint-fronted cottage that is believed to date back to the early 1800’s. It has recently been totally refurbished (including a bathroom and kitchen, new appliances and furniture, and gas central heating) and there are many lovely period-style features plus all the modern comforts and conveniences you would expect. As the cottage is single-storey, all the accommodation is on one level - with no stairs, or awkward steps.

Outside: There is a small courtyard with a table and four chairs for warm weather.
Additional information: Prices are fully inclusive - there is nothing else to pay. All bedlinen and towels are provided. There is plenty of hanging and drawer space, plus useful items such as a hairdryer in each bedroom. A travel cot and highchair are available on advance request, at no extra cost. Short-breaks may be available - please enquire with the owner. Maximum price is £895 (summer) £1,095 (Christmas and New Year). Rated 4 Star GOLD by Visit England. The cottage has central heating. Credit/DebitCard payments can be made online via the owner’s website or by secure weblink sent by email. The owner’s Booking Process includes the completion of a Booking Form (with name, address, contact telephone numbers and dates of stay, etc.) and payment of a (returnable) Damage Deposit of £250 per property booked, which is paid by Card and returned to the same Card within 7 days after Departure. Full Terms & Conditions are on the owner’s website. For longer stays, a (separate outbuilding) laundry unit can be made available with washing machine & tumble dryer. The owner also welcomes Business Travellers, and longer stays.
PETS GO FREE! There is no additional charge(s) for accommodating your dog(s). Small, Toy or miniature breeds which are clean and well-behaved ‘family pets’ are made very welcome. A guide is ... no more than about 14 inches (35 cm) in height (to the shoulder) or 9-10 kg in weight, and no more lively than a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. (Please ring to check before booking if you are not sure. Dogs have to be ‘Checked-In’ on Arrival, and there is a ‘no toileting in the property’ rule.) The Holiday Cottages are Period properties and are not suitable for bigger or boisterous breeds of dog. So, sorry but your dog cannot be accommodated if it is, for example, a Collie, Labrador, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Springer Spaniel, or similar. Transport: The area has a very good public transport system and there is a direct service from London Liverpool Street to Saxmundham station, taking approximately one and a half hours, making this an ideal location for those who do not want to bring the car.
Changeover day: usually Friday for weekly bookings. Friday or Monday for Short Breaks.
Parking is on the road - usually just a few yards from the Cottage. You can park right outside the front door to unload your bags, then move the car along a bit to park up. Saxmundham is a small town and the cottage is in a quiet residential street.
