Grassholm Cottage at Sandy Haven is a small, charmingly quirky open plan holiday cottage.
Set towards the rear of Skerryback Farm, the couple and family-friendly cottage has its own driveway and parking space, and a sense of being slightly removed without feeling cut off.
Inside, the layout is split-level rather than standard, with a ground floor double bedroom and bathroom, then a crog loft above with two single beds and a Juliet balcony looking into the woodland.
It sleeps four, though it feels more individual than most cottages of this size, thanks to its layout and setting.
The estuary, a small cove, and a sandy beach are all within a few minutes' walk, as is the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. At low tide, rock pools appear, and dogs and children can make the most of the open space. If you're not feeling that energetic, The Brook Inn is less than a mile away and a reliable spot for food and a drink.
Sandy Haven has a quieter feel than many parts of the Pembrokeshire coast, which is exactly why people keep coming back. There's a long connection to the water here, and the estuary shifts constantly with the tide, changing the view every time you pass it. The footbridge is well known locally for crabbing, and it's one of those places where time drifts a bit without you noticing. Walkers and dog owners settle in quickly because everything is close to hand, and you can head out straight from the cottage without needing to plan much at all.
St Ishmaels is the nearest village, while shops and larger essentials are a short drive away, giving you just enough separation without feeling isolated.
Once you start exploring, there's plenty within easy reach. Broad Haven is close by for a larger beach and a livelier atmosphere, while Dale is a go-to for sailing, kayaking and time on the water.
St Bride's Bay is known for dolphin and seal sightings if you're lucky, and horse riding along the sand at East Nolton is worth seeking out on a clear day.
Haverfordwest provides a bit more bustle, with its castle and range of shops, while St Davids draws visitors for its cathedral, independent cafés and slightly different pace. There are more beaches scattered along the coast than you'll likely get through in one stay, along with places like Roch Castle, Pembroke Castle and Folly Farm for a change of scene.

Additional Information
WiFi, utilities, bed linen and bath towels are provided. 2 small or 1 medium to large dog is welcome by prior arrangement only. Weekly stays during peak season (Saturday to Saturday), with short breaks available at other times. Please note that whilst the property can sleep 4 it is best suited to sleep 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 smaller children. Washing machine and tumble drier in separate area and uses pound coins. Arrival from 4pm, departure by 10am. Smoking is not permitted.
