Discover the charm of St Dogmaels and Cardigan, where the Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins and the River Teifi winds its way. St Dogmaels offers a peaceful village atmosphere with a historic abbey, a working flour mill, and a weekly produce market. Enjoy a drink or meal at the community-run White Hart, the estuary-facing Ferry Inn, or the newly refurbished Teifi Waterside—all dog-friendly and full of character.
Cardigan, just three miles away, is a lively market town with independent shops, bakeries, and cafés alongside Tesco and Aldi. The renovated Cardigan Castle hosts exhibitions, events, and a restaurant. For dining out, try Pizza Tipi, 1176 at the Castle, Manucci’s Italian, The Copper Pot, Abduls Tandoori, or Yr Hen Printworks. Crwst is a local favourite for brunch, while The Hive and La Fontana serve up delicious ice cream. For cocktails, head to Yr Hen Printworks or the Albion Hotel by the bridge.
Explore Poppit Sands, a dog-friendly beach just a five-minute drive away, or venture into the Preseli Hills for panoramic views and ancient settlements. Ceibwr Bay and the Witches’ Cauldron offer dramatic coastal scenery, while Cwm Gwaun’s woodland trails and waterfalls promise peaceful walks and a visit to the famously quirky Dyffryn Arms. The nearby burial chamber at Pentre Ifan and the mystical forests of Ty Canol and Pengelli add a touch of ancient wonder.
Families and adventure seekers will find plenty to do. The Welsh Wildlife Centre and Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park offer trails, animals, and play areas. Cardigan Bay Active and Heritage Canoes provide kayaking, paddleboarding, and bushcraft for all ages. Indoor fun awaits at The Loft Wales with climbing walls, escape rooms, and crazy golf, while Mwldan cinema and arts centre offers films and creative events. Castell Henllys and Cilgerran Castle bring history to life with ruins and reconstructed roundhouses.
Further afield, explore the Ceredigion coast path with stunning beaches like Mwnt, Aberporth, and Llangrannog, or head south to discover Pembrokeshire’s 80+ beaches. Day trips to Tenby and Aberystwyth offer wildlife parks, steam trains, cliff railways, and butterfly houses—perfect for big kids and little ones alike.

The cottage has its own parking area with private access and enclosed gardens to the front and rear with countryside views, including an outside eating area. You'll find the shed equipped with buckets, spades, games, a barbecue, and the famous windbreak—an essential for the British seaside. There’s good access to public footpaths from the cottage, and a map on the hall wall shows where they all are.
