About Gorllan

Gorllan dates from 1726 and is Grade II listed to protect its heritage. It is now in a tucked-away location on a lane which was once the main route to Cardigan and we believe it once served as a toll-house. Staying here is an absolute treat, and despite its rural location, it is easy to reach by car and is an ideal location for exploring the local coast, countryside and small towns and villages.

Couples ( or two friends) relish the peace and privacy within its sturdy stone walls that keep temperatures refreshingly cool in summer. In winter, the one-bedroom holiday home is kept extra cosy thanks to a wood burner and a Rayburn range - absolute bliss for unwinding in comfort after a brisk beach walk or an invigorating hike in the Preseli Hills!

Eglwyswrw is a traditional bilingual Welsh village in beautiful North Pembrokeshire, in which you will hear the Welsh language being used as an ordinary part of community life.

Traeth Mawr (Newport) and Poppit (St Dogmael's) are nearby, as are beaches like Ceibwr and Cwm Yr Eglwys. Cardigan and beaches slightly further north, such as Mwnt and Tresaith are also very easily accessible. St David's, with its beautiful cathedral, and the popular resort of Tenby are both about 45 minutes away. There is nowhere along the Coast Path that doesn't offer a scenic view, whether of sweeping sands or sheltered coves. Wildflowers and birds flourish in this protected environment, adding to its unique beauty. The nearby Preseli Hills provide more opportunities for adventure and golf, fishing, cycling, surfing, swimming, and paddleboarding are all popular with locals and visitors.

Gorllan’s prime location makes it easy to discover all that Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire have to offer.

Location (Pembrokeshire)

Accommodation Comprises:

You'll find the white stone cottage just behind the village church.

The owners live locally so are available in the event of any queries and issues during your stay.

The owners (one of whom is vegan) have taken care to ensure that all furnishings, bedding, toiletries and cleaning products are vegan and as eco-friendly as possible. However they do not insist that guests follow a plant based diet when staying at Gorllan.

  • Walk through the deep front doorway and oak front door into a welcoming living/dining room area with exposed beams (possibly from a ship and older than the cottage) and timber floors. This room is a picture of hospitality, from the original fireplace featuring a Rayburn range, to the Welsh dresser housing crockery and local pottery.
  • One of the two sofas in the second sitting room opens into a comfortable bed if guests are not a couple or do not wish to share the bed upstairs. The woodburner is a cosy addition, and there's a small Smart TV.
  • Unlike the centuries-old living and dining rooms, the kitchen is a modern extension decorated in keeping with the rest of the cottage. Appliances include a Nespresso coffee maker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and alternative cooking options for those wary of the Rayburn.
  • Recently refurbished, the shower room is on the ground floor with a shower, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

  • A dressing room and bedroom provide ample sleeping and storage space upstairs. The bedroom has a king-sized bed.

Outside: The cottage garden has views of the church, and seating so you can dine alfresco and enjoy long summer days. Parking is next to the rear of the cottage.

Additional Information: Although the cottage can theoretically sleep four, with the sofa bed, the maximum occupancy is two adults. Please note that whilst it is suitable for non mobile infants (guests provide own cot) the property is not suitable for toddlers and very young children (or those with significant mobility issues) due to the stairs. Two well behaved dogs are welcome at an extra charge of £20 each. Smoking is not permitted.
