Primrose Cottage sits within a courtyard of cottages, converted from farm buildings, with all the character that implies; as you walk from the development, you will see the sea and within two-three minutes walk you will be on the Embleton part of England's Coastal path, in the shadow of the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle, at the heart of an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The single storey stone built one bedroom cottage is perfect for individuals or couples, looking for a bolthole on some of the best sandy beaches in the Country (as voted by Mumsnet and Countryfile viewers.) The Cottage is perfect for beach lovers, nature and bird watchers, golfers, walkers and experienced paddle boarders and surfers (take local expert advice for watersports)
Turn right on the Coastal path and walk towards the picturesque village of Craster, with its historic harbour and indulge in the local produce offered by ‘The Jolly Fisherman’ pub or the’ Shoreline Café’, or simply buy some Craster kippers, smoked in the smokehouse, for next day’s breakfast! Turn left and walk towards Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club and onwards towards Low Newton and ‘The Ship Inn’ (just set back from the beach). For more strenuous walking, keep going as far South as Alnmouth and as far North as Bamburgh. You can always catch the coastal bus up or down the coast and walk back! The village of Embleton, and its amenities, are five minutes by car; for the fit, you could choose to just use the Embleton shop and challenge yourself to be car-free for the length of your stay! The cottage garden is big enough to house paddle boards and is enclosed for you to be able to bring up to two well behaved dogs. There is a wealth of historical and recreational options nearby: Alnwick Castle and Garden, for the Harry Potter fans; Bamburgh Castle; Lindisfarne; the Farne Islands, with departures leaving regularly from Seashouses harbour, in the season; perfect for bird and nature lovers generally; Low Newton, near ‘The Ship Inn’, has bird hides beside some nature reserve pools and ‘The Ship’ has a microbrewery for a pint when you are finished and before the walk back home

Primrose cottage accommodates up to two people in a cosy double bedroom (with 'Emma' mattress) and full-length windows onto the garden. The open plan reception room has a sofa with views onto the garden from the full-length windows, or you can watch the SMART tv, to watch your own subscription channels; the corner hearth houses an electric fire in the style of a log burner. Why not curl up with a book on the sofa or use the dining table and chairs nearer the kitchen, perfect for lovely suppers or to have a good game of Scrabble or indulge in a jigsaw! The kitchen contains an electric hob with extractor hood over, an electric oven, and dishwasher. There’s an under the counter fridge and small counter top freezer and microwave. The adjacent utility room has a washing machine, hand basin and wc. The en-suite bathroom contains a shower, wc and sink. There is a small vestibule area for you to hang your coats, in inclement weather, but more usually the garden has ample room on the washing line for your waterproofs, beach towels and wetsuits, plus there is an outdoor picnic table and chairs, plus parasol and separate double chair for when you need a change from the beach. Outside, there is private parking in a gravelled area and then there is lawn with a path leading to the property. Dog owners should note that there is a five-bar gate at the entrance to the property, so if you have small “escape artist” dogs then, whilst the outside is enclosed, it would not be 100% secure. Whilst infants are welcome in a travel cot (or similar) the property does not have a separate area to accommodate a cot.
A delightful, characterful, period cottage close to one of the best beaches in the country.
