About Canfers Barn

Canfers Barn is a traditional redbrick and flint holiday cottage in the peaceful village of Briningham. The one-bedroom property is perfect for a couple's self-catering holiday on the Norfolk Coast. It is also comfortable and welcoming for solo travellers, including those with a dog, looking for a rural base close to Norfolk's beautiful beaches. You can book the barn conversion on its own or with one of five other holiday cottages on the family-run farm, where guests rave about the owner's attention to detail.

Briningham has a great mix of country and coast. It's only four miles from Holt, a Georgian market town with shops and amenities. The town has everything you need for a self-catering holiday, whether it's a pint of milk, gardens and antique shops to inspire you, or attractions like the specialist Muckleburgh Military Collection or the quirky shell museum. Enjoy fresh cakes and a proper pot of tea in family-run cafes, browse book shops and galleries, and treat yourself to something special at the award-winning Bakers and Larner's department store, which has been a landmark in the town since 1770.

This stretch of coastline is so spectacular that you'll find it hard to choose your favourite beaches. Blakeney will undoubtedly be in your top three. Eight miles or a 15-minute drive from the cottage, the 160-hectare Blakeney National Nature Reserve is famous for watching migrating birds and spotting common and grey seals and their pups. Blakeney has a four-mile stretch of sand and shingle beach, dunes, marshes, and views that will leave you breathless. Holkham and Wells beaches are nearby, and you're within easy reach of Cromer and Sheringham. Local attractions include stately homes like Sandringham, Blickling, and Holkham Hall. Enjoy the gardens and woodland walks at Pensthorpe Natural Park, take a nature-watching boat trip to see the seals, or spend a day exploring Norwich's medieval buildings now housing shops and restaurants.

Like other guests who have stayed in Canfers or one of the owner's other barns, you may find yourself booking to stay here again! Short breaks are possible, depending on availability. Canfers Barn is comfortable in all seasons.

Canfers Barn is a single-storey barn conversion made from flint and red brick typical of period buildings in this part of Norfolk. It's bigger than the average one-bedroom holiday cottage, with lots of space for you to settle in and unwind.

  • A vaulted ceiling, oak beams, and big windows on both sides make the living room a relaxed and welcoming place to greet you on your arrival. There is a large sofa facing the wood burner, an armchair and shelves of books. A glass door opens into the enclosed garden, with another leading to your car.
  • All of the equipment and utensils you need for a self-catering stay are in the kitchen/diner, where a glazed French door opens onto the private terrace.
  • Soft cream and pastel shades create a soothing atmosphere in the bedroom. Quality bedlinen adorns the kingsized bed, and there's an ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin. Bath towels are provided.

Outside: The cottage has a big garden, enclosed for privacy and the safety of your dogs. There is a terrace with seating and a level lawn for sunbathing.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Guests to bring beach towels. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please speak with the owner before booking if you have more than two dogs. Smoking is not permitted.
