About Orchard House

Orchard House is so big that there won't be any problems fitting in everyone. The spacious house and annexe combine to sleep up to 24 people in 10 bedrooms, sitting in 40 beautiful acres that include woodland, orchard, expansive lawns, fields and far-reaching views of the Brecon Beacons. It's private and secluded yet only 20 minutes from the Severn Bridge. If you are searching for a big house holiday let for a family get-together, hen weekend, wedding reception, milestone birthday, or just because you haven't seen everyone for a while, Orchard House is perfect.

The house is in the peaceful hamlet of Llangovan, a few miles from Usk and a short drive from Abergavenny and Monmouth. The standard of accommodation and the grounds are so impressive that it would be understandable if guests didn't want to leave! However, those who venture outside the gate will be greeted by plentiful opportunities to walk, mountain bike, sail, fish and climb. With the Brecon Beacons National Park to the west and the beautiful Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) to the east, there are no end of ways to enjoy being outdoors and active.

Day trips can include visits to Abergavenny, Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Cardiff and Bristol. There is an impressive number of castles within a small radius, including Raglan, Chepstow, Caldicot, White and Grosmont Castles. Other local attractions include the Lost City of Trellech, Big Pit and the Blaenavon UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth and the Brecon Mountain Railway. There are also nearby activity centres where you can plan fun activities like gorge walking, canoeing and abseiling.

Accommodation Comprises:

Orchard House is light and spacious with high-quality furnishings that make it a welcoming and comfortable space in which to relax. Accommodation in the house is over three levels, while the rooms in the annexe are spread across two floors.

Orchard House:

  • Most of your socialising and entertaining will be done on the ground floor of the main house. Not only is there a huge lounge with a TV, but there is also an enormous dining/breakfast room with doors that open onto the patio where there is even more seating. A separate snug provides a lovely spot for reading or quiet conversations. There is a further snug/study with a sofa that can be made into a double sofa bed - please ask when booking if this is required.
  • Main kitchen with a four-oven AGA, electric oven and hob, tall fridge/freezer, larder and plenty of space to prepare food. There is a smaller butler's kitchen for cooking casual meals or snacks.
  • Stairs lead from the central hallway to the first-floor games room which has table tennis, snooker and table football as well as casual seating and other games.
  • On the first floor there are five bedrooms in total, two are family rooms with a double and single bed in each, both with an ensuite. There is a further double room with space for a cot which has it’s own ensuite bathroom. And finally, there is a double room and a twin room which have shared use of a family bathroom with bath and shower.
  • The top floor of Orchard House has a family room with a kingsized and a single bed, and a triple room with three full-sized single beds. There is also a bathroom with a shower, WC and a handbasin.

The Annexe:

  • Lounge with a corner sofa and a wall-mounted TV is ideal for keeping the kids quiet, especially with the nearby kitchenette where they can grab a snack to keep them going between meals.
  • Twin bedroom with an easy-access shower room ensuite.
  • Separate shower room with a WC and a handbasin.
  • Stairs lead to the second floor where there is a huge family bedroom furnished with a king sized bed and two full-sized single beds.

Outside: Orchard House sits in 40 acres of private grounds that include fields, woodland, an apple orchard, lawns, a deck and a patio. There is a barbecue area with seating, and ample off-street parking.

Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, fuel for the log burner, bed linen and towels are provided. Up to three well-behaved dogs are welcome through prior arrangement, and the property is child friendly. Smoking is not permitted.
