About High Cloud Farm and Barn

The High Cloud Farm and Barn is a delightful self-catering property for large groups on the Welsh borders. The elevated position provides breathtaking views across the Brecon Beacons and the Wye Valley. The 10-bedroom house can comfortably accommodate up to 24 guests, so it is perfect for multi-generational and extended family gatherings, celebrating milestone birthdays and other special occasions, or a group holiday with friends. The house sits within 30-private acres of land just outside of Landenny village, close to beautiful footpaths and some of the area's favourite attractions.

The village of Landenny is not hard to access for all its sense of peace and remoteness. It is only a few miles from the main road that links to Abergavenny and Monmouth, both of which are historic market towns with excellent amenities that include several supermarkets, twice-weekly markets and other places to eat, drink and shop.

The part of Wales is home to some of the most impressive castles in the country. Raglan Castle is an outstanding example, but others include the trio of Grosmont, Skenfrith and White castles which are linked by a popular walking route which offers stunning views of the area. This area around High Cloud Farm is perfect for walking and cycling, with the Brecon Beacons National Park to the west and the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean to the east.

Those who want to climb a mountain can scale the Sugarloaf, Skirrid or South Wales' highest peak, Pen-y-Fan, all of which have waymarked footpaths to the summit. Visitors who prefer less elevated pastimes will love having the River Wye so close, with its plentiful opportunities for fishing and kayaking. Brecon and Monmouth Canal is also within easy reach with miles of a traffic-free path for walking and cycling. It's possible to hire boats, windsurfers and paddleboards at Llandegfedd Reservoir, and there is a popular swimming and picnic spot near the bridge in Usk for steamy summer days.

You may find the surroundings of High Cloud Farm, with its hot tub, swimming pool and huge grounds, too comfortable to want to leave. For those who want to venture out, day trips can include visits to Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, Ross-on-Wye, Hereford and Cardiff as well as horseriding and mountain biking. It doesn't matter what time of the year you visit because there is so much to see and do.

Accommodation Comprises:

High Cloud's farmhouse and barn combine to offer spacious living and sleeping accommodation for up to 24 people. The Farmhouse has rooms over three levels while the rooms in The Barn are all on the ground floor.

The Farmhouse:

  • Welcoming entrance hall leading to a large living area on one side, and a well-equipped kitchen/diner on the other. The living room has a fireplace with a log burner, high ceilings and doors that open onto the terrace. There is a convenient utility room with laundry facilities and a cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.
  • There are two large bedrooms and two family bathrooms on the first floor. The biggest bedroom is a family room with a king-sized bed and two single beds. The second bedroom is a lovely double room with a built-in wardrobe. Both benefit from lots of natural light and have far-reaching countryside views.
  • The bathrooms are not ensuite but are immediately next to each bedroom. One has a walk-in shower and the other has a bath. Both have a WC and a handbasin.
  • Stairs lead to the top floor where there is another family room and another comfortable double, as well as a shower room with a WC and a handbasin.

The Barn:

Over half of The Barn is given over to space for socialising and entertaining.

  • Living room with ample seating for everyone and doors that open onto the terrace. There is a separate dining room where family and friends can gather for big meals, and a huge games room with table football, a snooker table, table tennis, various other games and relaxed seating.
  • The Barn has two kitchens. As with the kitchen in The Farmhouse, they are very well equipped with lots of space for storing and preparing food as well as an excellent complement of equipment and utensils.
  • Six bedrooms include two doubles and four twins rooms. All of the bedrooms have big windows and beds are made up for guests' arrival using quality linen and hypoallergenic bedding.
  • There are three bathrooms (one with a bath and two with a shower) which all have a WC and a handbasin, and two further cloakrooms with a WC.

Outside: High Cloud has 30-acres of grounds that include areas for playing, dining alfresco, and quiet corners where guests can read or snooze in the sunshine. There is an outdoor undercover hot tub, a swimming pool, and ample off-street parking.

Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. The Farmhouse and The Barn are child and pet-friendly (up to three dogs accepted) and a cot (not bedding), high chair and stair gate are available on request. Smoking is not permitted.
