The High Cloud Farm and Barn is a delightful self-catering property for large groups on the Welsh borders. The elevated position provides breathtaking views across the Brecon Beacons and the Wye Valley. The 10-bedroom house can comfortably accommodate up to 24 guests, so it is perfect for multi-generational and extended family gatherings, celebrating milestone birthdays and other special occasions, or a group holiday with friends. The house sits within 30-private acres of land just outside of Landenny village, close to beautiful footpaths and some of the area's favourite attractions.
The village of Landenny is not hard to access for all its sense of peace and remoteness. It is only a few miles from the main road that links to Abergavenny and Monmouth, both of which are historic market towns with excellent amenities that include several supermarkets, twice-weekly markets and other places to eat, drink and shop.
The part of Wales is home to some of the most impressive castles in the country. Raglan Castle is an outstanding example, but others include the trio of Grosmont, Skenfrith and White castles which are linked by a popular walking route which offers stunning views of the area. This area around High Cloud Farm is perfect for walking and cycling, with the Brecon Beacons National Park to the west and the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean to the east.
Those who want to climb a mountain can scale the Sugarloaf, Skirrid or South Wales' highest peak, Pen-y-Fan, all of which have waymarked footpaths to the summit. Visitors who prefer less elevated pastimes will love having the River Wye so close, with its plentiful opportunities for fishing and kayaking. Brecon and Monmouth Canal is also within easy reach with miles of a traffic-free path for walking and cycling. It's possible to hire boats, windsurfers and paddleboards at Llandegfedd Reservoir, and there is a popular swimming and picnic spot near the bridge in Usk for steamy summer days.
You may find the surroundings of High Cloud Farm, with its hot tub, swimming pool and huge grounds, too comfortable to want to leave. For those who want to venture out, day trips can include visits to Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, Ross-on-Wye, Hereford and Cardiff as well as horseriding and mountain biking. It doesn't matter what time of the year you visit because there is so much to see and do.
