The Anchor has space for up to 20 people to sleep comfortably in seven ensuite bedrooms (plus an additional 2 guests if the sofa bed is used in the snug), making it a fantastic big group self-catering property in the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. The village location in Lydbrook is not only peaceful but convenient, as it's within walking distance of the friendly Forge Hammer pub and close to village amenities. The house is perfect for Christmas with your extended families, hen weekends, celebrating milestone birthdays, or simply catching up with friends you haven't seen for ages.
The Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is beautiful in every season from the arrival of carpets of delicate bluebells in spring to summer's full hedgerows, the flaming colours of autumn and cold winter days where frost glitters on the fields next to the river. The Forest of Dean is also beautiful, with lots of walking and cycling trails and beauty spots such as Symonds Yat. With all of this on the doorstep, being outdoors in the fresh air has never been so appealing. If you need further options, then the Cotswolds AONB and the Brecon Beacons National Park are both close by.
Local attractions include Go Ape, the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo, the Dean Heritage Centre, Puzzlewood, and the Dean Forest Railway. Nearby are fisheries, golf courses, bike and canoe hire, and activity companies who can take groups mountain biking, gorge walking, canoeing, quad biking or clay pigeon shooting.
Monmouth, Abergavenny and Ross-on-Wye are only a short drive from the house. Each town has a regular market and an excellent variety of places to shop, eat and drink. The landscape around The Anchor is dotted with castles and country pubs. Those who enjoy shopping can spend the day browsing in the historic cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester or browsing the upmarket boutiques in Cheltenham.
The owners have worked hard to create a welcoming environment where extended families and friends can relax and spend time together while still enjoying their own space. More information about prices and availability is on their website.
