Most family breaks make someone compromise. The lovely places don't take dogs. The dog-friendly ones feel tired. The kids are bored by day two - and whoever booked it spends the week managing instead of resting. The Sahara is the base where everyone actually holidays.
For the kids: the park's leisure club, a five-minute walk away, has a 15-metre heated indoor pool whatever the weather is doing, with day and week passes from reception. The lake path, little beach and safe gated grounds let them burn energy without you burning fuel.
For the dog: room for the bed and all the kit, decking for morning sniffs, a lake to walk around on the doorstep, and Silverdale & Arnside AONB fifteen minutes away for the big walk. No kennels, no guilt.
For you: the lodge is brand new and kept spotless - recent guests said it looked even nicer than the photos. Plush lounge seating, smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen and a farmhouse table the family actually fits around. The on-site spa takes bookings, and the lakeside restaurant covers the night nobody cooks.
The practical bit: five minutes off the M6, so you're unpacking while others are still queueing on the A591. Parking outside the door, self check-in with a smart lockbox, and a king bedroom, twin room and sofa bed sleeping up to six. The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the coast are all within thirty minutes - one base, three holidays.

Dogs are welcome (up to two, £40, off the furniture and not left alone in the lodge). The pool, steam room and gym are pay-as-you-go via park reception - £25 for a day pass for a family of 4, and worth budgeting for if your kids are swimmers. Check-in from 4pm, checkout by 10am; early check-in and late checkout are sometimes possible for a small charge - just ask.
