Elizabeth Apartment has everything couples or individuals look for in a self-catering holiday home on the Isle of Wight. The refurbished one-bedroom apartment is on the first floor of a beautifully converted Victorian property and boasts a big bay window and an original decorative fireplace. It's in the village of Shanklin, a short walk from shops, tea rooms and cafes, pubs, takeaways, and Shanklin's beautiful sandy beach. As one of the sunniest places in England, with eight hours more sunshine every week than the national average, Shanklin is a fantastic holiday destination for all seasons. Elizabeth Apartment welcomes bookings all year round.
Shanklin is a town of two parts. In the new town, there is a wide choice of shops, restaurants and other amenities that include a mainline train station. Shanklin Olde Village has some of the island's original thatched cottages and a church with medieval roots. John Keats, the Romantic English poet, stayed at Keats Cottage in the summer of 1819, taking inspiration from places like Shanklin Chine's waterfalls and shaded picnic places, St Blasius, the beach and the countryside. Walk beside the beach huts that line the seafront esplanade, along the pier, or via the coastal footpath to neighbouring Sandown or Ventnor. The seafront is as traditional as you like, with a fun mini-golf course, arcades, and cafes selling doughnuts, Slush Puppies, and ice cream.
The Isle of Wight is only 13 miles wide and 23 miles long, so everything is comfortably within reach, no matter where you start from. Shanklin is on the southeast coast, where local attractions include the Isle of Wight Zoo, a charming donkey sanctuary, Bembridge Windmill, Ventnor Botanic Garden, and Appledurcombe House and Gardens. A little further afield, but still only around half an hour's drive, are Osborne House, Carisbrook Castle, and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. The famous sailing town of Cowes is 14 miles from Elizabeth Apartment, while The Needles and Alum Bay are 45 minutes drive. In between all of these fantastic sights are more than 57 miles of coastline, over 200 miles of cycling routes, and 500 waymarked footpaths.
Elizabeth Apartment is welcoming and comfortable, with a double ensuite bedroom, spacious living room, and a fully-equipped kitchen. It's one of five superb holiday apartments in the building known as Fernhurst, all managed by the same owner with the potential to combine bookings to accommodate separate families on holiday together.
