With a huge selection of scenic walks, open spaces and stunning scenery the Isle of Syke is a fantastic destination to take your dog on holiday. There is a large selection of mountainous terrain for energetic two and four legged friends to explore. Tackle the islands most iconic, towering rock pinnacle at the Old Man of Storr or explore the Quiraing, an unforgettable landscape of surreal cliffs formations and open moorland. On a warm day dogs will love paddling in the streams at the Fairy Pools or enjoy a gentle sheltered trail through ancient woodland in the Kinloch Forest where you can enjoy panoramic coastal views over the Sound of Sleat.
With nearly 400 miles of coastline surrounding the island there are endless opportunities for blustery beach walks or a gentle paddle during the warmer months. The wide sandy beach at Staffin Bay allows dogs year-round and it is an excellent spot for a walk, a potter in the rock pools or hunting for the fossilized dinosaur footprints visible at low tide. Dogs are also welcome year-round at Coral beach, near Dunvegan. The white coral-like sand and turquoise water makes it a popular spot for a scenic walk or a refreshing dip in the sea. Active dogs will also love exploring Talisker Bay Beach on the west coast of the island. The black volcanic sand, huge vertical cliffs and impressive waterfall gives the beach a wild and dramatic feel.
Other dog friendly attractions include the gardens and woodland trails at Armadale Castle, Gardens & Museum and Dunvegan Castle & Gardens or enjoy a boat trip on the Loch Coruisk with Misty Isle Boat Trips. If you are just looking for a gentle potter the Portree Loch Circular is an easy walk that combines loch views with a woodland walk. There are plenty of dog-friendly cafés and pubs to enjoy in Portree before or after your walk.
