Kathy's Cottage has views that will leave you breathless. Looking out over fields, the views over Loch Pooltiel stretch to Dunvegan Head and the islands of the Outer Hebrides. The two-bedroom holiday cottage is cosy and authentic but with a modern kitchen for self-catering. Its size means it is best suited to couples or families with younger children who would be happy to top-and-tail in the narrow but long double bed. It's a stunning location in the quiet hamlet of Lower Milovaig, two miles from Glendale village, with a shop, post office and two cafes. If you have a boat, you'll be happy to know there's a slipway a quarter of a mile away at Meanish Pier.
Glendale at the top western corner of the Isle of Skye is an incredible landscape, beautiful and untouched, where thousands of seabirds live on cliffs from which you can see dolphins, whales, porpoises, and basking sharks. The clean waters of Loch Pooltiel are home to seals you can watch basking in the sun. Birdwatchers flock here to see eagles, hawks and falcons and the numerous summer migrants such as wheatears, larks, meadow pipits, cuckoos and waders. Hikers and walkers come here for the seasonal beauty, enjoying a fragrant display of wildflowers in spring and summer, the rich tones of autumn, and the pleasure of relaxing in front of the log burner after a cold winter's walk.
Local walks go along the cliff to Oisgill Bay. McLeod's Table, Waterstein Head, and Neist Point are also incredible. Wander through Ramasaig on the way past the waterfall to the beach, passing the remains of croft houses left empty in 1830 when residents were forced to emigrate to Nova Scotia. Take a seal-watching boat trip from Dunvegan Castle or the "Bella Jane" sightseeing ferry to Loch Coruisk. During your stay at Kathy's Cottage, other places of interest are Skye Weavers in Glendale, the Talisker Distillery in Carbost, and the Kilmuir Museum of Island Life.
It's been said that there's nowhere better than Skye for escaping busy modern life. Come here for the views, the wildlife, and the deep sense of peace to be found when you walk 'off the beaten track'.
