Stag Lodge is a Highland dream both inside and out. The pretty Victorian stone cottage has been carefully renovated to a high standard and can accommodate up to eight people in four very comfortable bedrooms. It sits above the road in a fantastic location on the 12,000-acre Glencarron Estate, and enjoys wonderful views of the hills and moors, with direct access to beautiful walks and cycling routes.
The Glencarron Estate is around 15 miles from Lochcarron in a peaceful part of the Highlands. It is a paradise for outdoor lovers as, in addition to walking and cycling, the estate offers fly fishing, clay pigeon shooting and stalking, with golf and sailing being available nearby. You will undoubtedly need to pack your outdoor gear for a holiday here! Lochcarron caters well for visitors, providing a pub, two restaurants and a cafe, a bank, petrol station and medical centre.
Achnasheen is only six miles from Stag Lodge, or drive a little further to the Torridon Countryside Centre and the opportunity to climb one of five Munros, watch otters on Loch Torridon, and have a close encounter with Highland Cattle and native red deer. Drive around 40 minutes from Glencarron to reach Applecross on the coast of Wester Ross. Two roads lead to Applecross, with the Bealach Na Ba one of the highest passes in Britain and not for the faint-hearted. Archaeologists believe this to be one of the oldest settled sites in Britain, and it is where you can arrange a dolphin and seal watching trip as well as catch the boat for a day trip to the Isle of Skye.
Within an hour’s drive are places like Dingwall and picturesque Plockton, as well as two glorious beaches and Eilean Donan Castle. Historic Inverness is not much further, opening up access to shopping, entertainment, museums and culture. Stag Lodge is ideal for families and friends who want to spend every possible minute outdoors, yet it is also the perfect base for touring the Highlands and discovering its far-reaching and fascinating history.
