✅The owners have completely refreshed the house from top to bottom, enhancing period features and carefully choosing furnishings to ensure guests can relax comfortably and enjoy every moment of their holiday.
✅ Stay Northside faces Middrige village green, a brief stroll from The Bay Horse pub, whose seasonal menu attracts diners around the area. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is well-equipped either for a self-catering holiday or as a home-from-home if you're in Durham on business but don't want to stay in a hotel.
✅ Middridge is one of the oldest villages in Durham, predating the Vikings, Saxons and Romans. Residents love that it's quiet and friendly and only 1.5 miles from supermarkets, shops and other amenities in Shildon and Newton Aycliffe. It is a truly lovely place to stay, especially if you have children who need to be entertained or you enjoy outdoor activities.
✅Durham's natural beauty, history, and varied attractions make it one of the best holiday destinations in the northeast. As it's between the coast and the North Pennines, there is always something to delight and inspire.
✅The landscape makes it popular for walkers and there are plenty of walks from the cottage. A little further afield popular routes include the Three Becks Trail in Hamsterley Forest, the Auckland Way Railway Path, and the circular route around Marston Lake in the Low Barns Nature Reserve. Wander around the castle and grounds at Auckland Deer Park, or take your time on the Hamsterley Blue route. Many trails are multi-purpose and suitable for mountain biking and walking.
✅Stay Northside is only 12 miles south of Durham's historic cathedral, castle and prestigious university. The city sits beside the River Wear and has excellent restaurants and a buzzing nightlife. Spend a lazy day at the seaside in Hartlepool or Seaton Carew, or playing golf at Castle Eden or one of a dozen other courses within half an hour's drive.
