Helensdale has been in the owner's family for generations, peacefully looking out over the water to Ireland. The coastal holiday cottage is at the bottom of the Rhins of Galloway, three miles from Drummore in the southernmost point of Scotland. It sleeps six people in three bedrooms, two on the ground floor, with excellent self-catering facilities and a perfect layout for families and friends. Light colours, comfortable modern furnishings, and cosy touches like an open fire in the sitting room make it wonderfully welcoming in all seasons. The enclosed garden is safe for children and dogs and an excellent spot to sit and watch incredible sunsets.
Drummore is on a narrow spit less than four miles wide. The village has a well-stocked shop, a friendly cafe, and a popular local pub. More amenities, including three supermarkets, are half an hour north in Stranraer. The area is heaven for bird watchers and anglers, with Kilstay Bay being a popular spot to fish for bass. Helensdale is close to the coastal footpath overlooking a small bay and surrounded by countryside. The scenery ranges from tranquil to dramatic, depending on the weather, sometimes both in one day! Guests love the views from Crammag Head Lighthouse, though the walk crosses two fields. The stone Port Logan Bay lighthouse is five miles north and less muddy to reach.
Day trips include visiting Portpatrick, Sandhead, Port Logan, and Stranraer. The Logan Botanic Gardens have a superb collection of exotic plants that thrive in the mild climate, or you could book a sightseeing boat tour through Loch Ryan Leisure. Walk a stretch of the Southern Upland Way or bring your bike and tackle the course at 7Staines. Go swimming at sunrise on the east coast and catch the sunset from the water on the west. Some people swim all year round, though there's a pool at Stranraer if winter waters are too chilly.
Helendale's warm atmosphere can only come from being a happy home for many years. The owners have sympathetically updated and modernised the facilities to retain this charm, creating a place where you and your family can make memories to last a lifetime.

Apart from the master bedroom, Helensdale's accommodation is all on the ground floor, so it's a great choice for guests who prefer to avoid stairs.
