Driftwood House is in the centre of Bournemouth, a short walk from the beach and the lively streets around the Triangle district. Tucked behind a gated entrance, the townhouse feels surprisingly peaceful for such a central location. Step outside and the town unfolds around you. Independent cafés, small shops and local restaurants sit within easy reach, while the path through Bournemouth Gardens leads directly down to the seafront. After a day by the water, it's easy to wander back through town, pick up dinner nearby, and settle in for a relaxed evening.
The surrounding neighbourhood has plenty of character. The Triangle area is known locally for its mix of independent businesses and long-standing pubs. The Dancing Jug is a popular spot nearby and often busy with locals in the evening. The Goat and Tricycle is a little further along the street and is a historic pub with its own small brewery and a strong following among real ale fans.
Bournemouth itself has been welcoming seaside visitors since Victorian times and still carries that sense of traditional coastal charm. The town gardens form a green corridor through the centre and lead all the way down to the pier and promenade. From there, the beach stretches for miles along the bay, with wide sands and views across the water. Beyond the town centre, the Dorset coast opens up with some of the most striking scenery in southern England. Sandbanks lies just along the coast and is known for its long sandy beach and views across Poole Harbour. From there, the chain ferry crosses to Studland and the Isle of Purbeck, where the Jurassic Coast begins.
Walkers come here for the chalk cliffs at Old Harry Rocks and the sweeping views across the sea. A little further west, scenic Corfe Castle rises above the surrounding hills, while the bays at Lulworth and Durdle Door draw visitors throughout the year. In the opposite direction, the New Forest National Park offers a completely different landscape, with ancient woodland, open heathland and free-roaming ponies. Driftwood House sits within easy reach of both coast and countryside, making it a convenient place to stay while exploring this varied corner of the south coast.
