The Tudor Barn will amaze and delight you and 24 of your family and friends. Situated on the environmentally-friendly working farm of Milden Hall in rural Suffolk, the Grade II* listed 16th century timber building sleeps 25 people in five bedrooms with lots of space to relax and socialise. An aisled, oak-timbered barn hewed by hand from oak trees planted at least a hundred years before Henry VIII is complemented by bricks made from local clay and long oak tables with plenty of space for dancing and games. Contemporary touches include underfloor heating in the cartlodge end, a modern kitchen well-equipped for self-catering, and contemporary bathrooms. The Tudor barn is great for a holiday with a difference and also for civilised hen weekends, multigenerational gatherings, art or music workshops, school groups studying the Tudors and WWII, yoga or wellness retreats.
Milden is a small country village that lies above the Brett Valley with picturesque lanes lined with hedgerows, and a charming church that makes The Tudor Barn seem modern by comparison. The barn's owner thoughtfully provide a fleet of bicycles and an array of laminated maps to help you discover historic Wool Town villages and countryside. More adventurous guests can kayak or paddleboard along the River Stour or tackle the high ropes at Go Ape in Thetford Forest. The Painter's Trail and three long-distance Sustrans routes are easily accessible from the end of the drive, as are a wealth of footpaths for those who prefer to explore at a more sedate pace.
Lavenham is only four miles away, with supermarkets, cafes, pubs and other amenities. Local attractions include National Trust Lavenham Guildhall and Ickworth House. You're also within an hour of the Suffolk coast and beaches like Aldeburgh and Felixstowe. You don't have to leave the grounds of Milden Hall to have a fantastic day out. Wander along farm trails, stop for a lazy picnic in the meadow, or set up a game of croquet in the garden. The owners have a pack of fun, family-friendly suggestions, and there is ample space in the house and garden for classes in yoga, cooking and dancing. Guests can even borrow the owner's Tudor costumes and dress up and go Tudor one evening.
Please see the owner’s website for more details and their other completely separate property, The Old Brooder Bunkhouse, which sleeps 22 guests.
