Harry's House is a spacious barn conversion in rural Shropshire. It boasts three ensuite bedrooms, an open-plan living area and tranquil views on all sides. The cottage sits amidst 160 acres of arable farmland with lots of walking, cycling, horse riding and fishing on the River Seven that holds good stocks of large barbel (daily permits available at the local tackle shop). Bridgnorth is only five miles and a 10-minute drive away, putting visitors within easy reach of places to eat, drink and shop.
Bridgnorth is the sort of place you could visit all year round and never get bored. It's beautiful in every season and there is a host of all-weather attractions for times when you don't want to be out in the elements. These days, Bridgnorth is a relaxed place to stroll and browse but, back in its heyday, it was one of Europe's busiest river ports. The architecture is a mish-mash of medieval, Tudor and Georgian, with a late-Victorian funicular thrown in for good measure. The Bridgnorth Cliff Railway goes up and down the 111-foot cliff over 150 times a day, carrying passengers between Low Town and High Town. Charles I thought the view from the top was one of the finest in England and you'll find it difficult to disagree. Ludlow is another great choice for shopping and lunch, as is Shrewsbury.
Local attractions include Bridgnorth Castle and gardens, Northgate Museum, the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford, Wenlock Priory, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, and the Severn Valley Railway. Must-see sights include the Iron Bridge near Much Wenlock, which is the first of its kind and dates from 1779. The Severn Valley Country Park is a family favourite with way-marked trails, a tea room, picnic spots and a playground. The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) starts about eight miles away, with Long Mynd and Church Stretton being just over half an hour by car. The Wrekin is another favourite spot for hiking.
Harry's House has everything you could want for a rural holiday with your family or friends. It's available all year round with short breaks possible depending on availability.
