About The Hideaway

The Hideaway is a holiday home where couples can enjoy spending time together in the beautiful surroundings of the mid-Wales countryside. The oak-framed barn is a stylish take on a classic rural building, with enormous windows that run the length of the property and open up to allow the scents and sounds of the woodland location indoors in good weather. The location is only a few miles from Newtown, so it's not isolated but, as you soak in the outdoor hot tub under a brilliant night sky after a day spent walking, cycling and sightseeing, you'll feel like a million miles away from the pressure and annoyances of daily life.

Newtown is around two miles from The Hideaway and easy to walk or cycle if you would rather leave the car behind. As the biggest town in Powys, it has a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and other amenities, but it's small enough to feel more like a thriving village than a noisy metropolis. Newtown is built beside the River Severn, and some lovely waterside footpaths snake their way through parkland and woodland. It's a cultural and economic hub, having a theatre, arts centre, the Oriel Davies Gallery, and a textile museum showcasing the lives of the 19th Century weavers who put this town on the map. Welshpool, Llanidloes, and Montgomery are other market towns within a few miles from The Hideaway.

In this part of Wales, where the land has sustained people for millennia, it's the countryside rather than the towns that are the main attraction. Walk from the cottage to the village of Berriew, taking in the magnificence of Glasvery Hall and Gardens along the way. Other routes include The Severn Way, Kerry Ridgeway, and the Source of the Severn. You're within easy reach of the Elan Valley and only an hour from the coast at Aberystwyth and Borth. Mountain bikers can test their skill on the Championship downhill course at Caersws and along miles of cross-country bridleways. Other activities to try include fishing, golf, clay pigeon shooting, kayaking, canoeing, go-karting, and zip wires. After all that activity, treat your body to a luxurious treatment in the on-site spa.

"The Hideaway" is the perfect name for this secluded cottage. It is at the end of a private lane with no passing traffic, surrounded by woodland and built and furnished with your comfort in mind.
