The Cwtch is a spacious, luxury, 'home from home' type property which visitors tend to fall in love with as soon as you arrive. It's hard to find the right English translation for "cwtch" but the closest is a verb which means either to hug or to cuddle, or as a noun it describes a cosy spot to snuggle down and retreat from the world. We feel this embodies the property perfectly as the Cwtch surrounds you in comfort, providing a secluded place where you can escape and enjoy uninterrupted time together. Spend happy hours exploring the stunning scenery around Newtown, Welshpool and the Welsh Borders before returning to soothe tired muscles in the private outdoor hot tub or free standing slipper bath in the king-size bedroom. You can then stretch out on the sofa in front of the TV and log burner, or watch the sunset from the patio.
Other options are the market towns of Montgomery, Llanidloes, and Machynlleth. Walkers love Newtown for the proximity to Offa's Dyke, with other favourite routes including the Source of the Severn, the Severn Way, and Kerry Ridgeway. Mountain bikers are only five miles from the trails at Caersws and within easy reach of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Elan Valley is a wonderful place for a drive, walk or cycle, with bird watchers able to add a visit to the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Rhayader.
Being in border country means there's a good choice of castles, so add Montgomery and Dolforwyn to your agenda if you're a fan of a fortified ruin or Powis Castle for its grandeur and immaculate gardens. Anglers can cast their rods in the River Severn or lakes like Fachwen Pool, within walking distance of the cottage. Other attractions and activities include King Arthur's Labyrinth, clay pigeon shooting, kayaking, canoeing and horse riding. The Cwtch is just over an hour from the beach at Aberystwyth, Ynyslas and Borth, making it easy to spend a day at the seaside.
Guests of The Cwtch have the option of booking an indulgent spa treatment or arranging for afternoon tea to be enjoyed in the privacy of your cottage. Please see the owner's website for information.
