Keepers Cottage is on Castle Menzies Estate in the spectacular Scottish Highlands. Guests enjoy a quiet location on the estate with access to 17 acres of private grounds close to Aberfeldy in the Upper Tay Valley. The description "cottage" is a little more rustic than the reality. Keepers Cottage is a gorgeous detached self-catering holiday home with space for six people to sleep in three spacious bedrooms with accommodation over two levels. Every bedroom can be configured either as a king or a twin, giving the flexibility that makes the property suitable for families or friends.
Aberfeldy is a fantastic place to get an authentic Highland experience. The small but thriving community is beside the banks of the Tay, Scotland's longest river. Aberfeldy was once the most prominent market town in Perthshire, and many of its businesses are proud to be independently owned and locally run. Don't miss the busy farmer's market if you're there on the first Sunday of the month from May to October. A tour of the Dewar's Distillery should be on the itinerary of any whisky lover, though you can always stop by their cafe, whisky lounge, or distillery shop if you're short on time.
A few miles from the Menzies Estate, Loch Tay attracts anglers and watersports enthusiasts of all persuasions, from sailors to SUPers and wild swimmers. The landscape is also a magnet for hikers, especially with Glen Lyon on the doorstep waiting for you to discover. Walking here means you're treading in the footsteps of the chieftains of Clans Menzies and Campbell or, if you're following the Birks of Aberfeldy trail, on the same route favoured by Robert Burns in the 1780s. Winding roads and challenging mountain climbs make this a memorable holiday for cyclists and mountain bikers, with bike hire and guided tours available locally.
Local attractions include Tay Forest Park, the Scottish Crannog Centre, Drummond Castle and Blair Castle. Castle Menzies, the historic seat of Chiefs of Clan Menzies for more than five centuries, opens to visitors between Easter and the end of September and is just down the road from the cottage. Further afield, Pitlochry is around half an hour's drive from Keepers Cottage, Perth is an hour, and you're only an hour and a half from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Keepers Cottage is an idyllic Highland retreat. Bookings are available all year round so you can enjoy the spectacular scenery in all seasons.
