Running Hare Barn is as dog-friendly as they come, with the owners allowing an unlimited number of dogs to stay for no additional cost. If your pets are a big part of your family then you won't want to leave them in kennels while you enjoy a holiday, but here is a destination you can all enjoy with miles of livestock-free trails and dog-friendly beaches all nearby. The house is a very comfortable thatched barn conversion with space to accommodate up to ten guests in five bedrooms, so it is ideal for extended families and groups of friends who want to explore the beautiful Norfolk countryside and coast.
Running Hare Barn is tucked away down a quiet country lane just outside East Ruston. Suggested walks include the six-mile loop from the village to Weavers Way and Stalham or the five-mile route along the river to Dilham. There are also good walks to Happisburgh Common and Briggate, as well as around nearby Trunch and Bacton Woods.
Winterton-on-Sea is a lovely dog-friendly beach where you can walk with your pets all year round. Horsea and Waxham are also great, but be aware of the restrictions during winter when the beach is a breeding ground for seals. The water at Sea Palling is shallow enough for dogs who love to paddle, while Cart Gap is typically quiet and ideal for those who do not like crowds. Both of these beaches have dog restrictions in place from May to October.
Running Hare has been renovated to a high standard to retain its many amazing original features while providing all the mod-cons modern day guests expect, including eco-friendly features. The barn has a sister property, The Old Piggery, which comfortably accommodates up to six people in three bedrooms. Running Hare has a wealth of beams and character and enjoys beautiful views of the rolling Norfolk countryside. The barn is exceptionally dog-friendly with the owners providing dog bowls, beds, towels and throws for their four-legged guests to use during their stay.

Outside: The enclosed garden is dog and child-friendly, with secure fencing and a flat lawn area to play. The patio has garden furniture and a gas barbecue so that guests can make the most of good weather. A covered space next to the house has an extra fridge/freezer as well as warm water for washing dogs. There is ample parking for several cars and electric vehicle charging points.
Additional Information: All utilities, sheets and bath towels are included, with guests required to bring beach towels if they are needed. Running Hare Barn is next to but separate from The Old Piggery. However, the properties are linked and can be opened up to share space for groups of up to 16. The balconies mean the property may not be particularly suitable for children, and young guests should be supervised closely. As the barn is thatched, smoking is strictly prohibited inside the building, and guests should take extreme care if smoking outside. Double external doors allow wheelchair access into the property from outside, however, once inside, doorways are standard size. Travel cot available by arrangement. Unlimited dogs are welcome.
