Lakeside Cottage is more than a mere holiday home but a heavenly retreat in a beautiful location near Silverdale. Anyone craving peace and solitude will adore a self-catering holiday beside Haweswater Tarn in the Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve. You'll want your most comfortable walking boots to explore mile upon mile of scenic footpaths, including one mile leading to the traditional Woodlands pub with its open fire, freshly cooked meals and variety of local ales. There are also two other pubs - Silverdale Hotel and The Royal - in the village. The former gamekeeper's cottage is ideal for couples and with a bunk room it is also welcoming for families.
While Silverdale isn't exactly a secret, it's certainly not as well known or as busy as its neighbour to the north, the Lake District. The lack of tourists makes the natural beauty of this landscape even more appealing. Step outside the door and into the Gait Burrows NNR, wear your wellies to bird spot from the hides and wildlife trails at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve or tackle the mountain bike trails and rock faces at Trowbarrow Quarry.
Silverdale beach is a hidden gem. The sandy shoreline is perfect for a day at the seaside, with lots of scope for building sandcastles, playing beach football and cricket, and the thrill of exploring rockpools and caves. Silverdale has three pubs, two cafes, a Co-op supermarket, and other amenities, all within a 20-minute walk, a short bike ride or a brief car journey from Lakeside Cottage.
Days out can feature walking around, swimming in, or sailing on Morecambe Bay. Only 30 minutes drive to beautiful Windermere. The lakes and fells of the national park are spectacular in all seasons. Plan an epic hike or pootle around, exploring popular sites and attractions like Catbells, Hill Top, and Dove Cottage.
Lakeside Cottage is available for holiday bookings all year round and is pet friendly. Guests love how homely and welcoming it is, the serenity and beauty of the location, and the private jetty.
