Cabin 1 proves you don't need a large cottage to enjoy one of the finest locations on the Isle of Lewis. Sleeping up to four guests, this welcoming glamping cabin sits in Mangersta Croft Holidays in the parish of Uig, where quiet beaches, rugged cliffs and open moorland begin almost as soon as you step outside. Everything has been thoughtfully designed to make life easy, with comfortable beds, a private shower room, a well-equipped kitchenette and a warm, cosy interior that's just as inviting after a windswept coastal walk as it is on a bright summer morning. Outside, there's space to sit with a coffee while planning the day ahead, and if you're travelling with your dog, they'll have no shortage of places to explore.
Mangersta Beach is only a five-minute stroll from the cabin, often quiet enough to feel as though you've discovered it yourself. Beyond that, the Uig peninsula unfolds into one of the most beautiful corners of the Outer Hebrides, with miles of walking routes, hidden coves, dramatic sea cliffs and remarkable wildlife. White-tailed eagles are regularly seen overhead, seals bask along the shoreline and, if you're lucky, dolphins or whales may make an appearance offshore. After a day out, guests often gather around the shared stone fire pit, cooking over the barbecue, swapping stories and watching the stars appear in some of the darkest skies in Britain.
There's plenty to tempt you further afield too. Boat trips explore the coastline and the Flannan Isles, while the famous Callanish Standing Stones, Dun Carloway Broch and the Blackhouse Museum all make memorable day trips across Lewis. Harris is close enough for a day exploring its famous beaches before returning to Uig for a quieter evening. Friendly hosts Derek and Elsie are always happy to share local knowledge, whether that's recommending a favourite walk, pointing you towards the best wildlife spots or suggesting somewhere special for dinner. It's the sort of welcome that keeps guests coming back year after year.
