Byre by the Sea is a stunning self-catering property in a fantastic waterfront location on Ross Bay and a 5* rating. Look out of the windows to breathtaking views of the bay and the sheltering headland that makes it such a beautiful year-round holiday destination. The single-storey cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and like the owners other holiday homes, assures a high standard of guest comfort.
This cottage is one of a collection of beautiful self-catering properties on a private 500-acre farm. On a sunny day, you can sit in the garden and admire views of the northern fells of the Lake District National Park. City breaks may have their charms, but there is something wonderfully therapeutic about being by the water and surrounded by countryside. It is entirely possible to pack a picnic and head for places like Meikle Ross on foot, and not see another person for hours. Imagine - no traffic noise to mar the peace or light pollution to block spectacular views of the night sky.
Visitors to Ross Bay often remark on how peaceful the area is, and how unspoiled by hoards of day-trippers, even on a warm summer's day. Staying in a cottage that is just steps from the water lets you spend as long as you like outside whether you are relaxing with a book on a sunny day or combing the beach for treasure after a dramatic winter storm.
Nearby attractions offer something for guests of all ages, from the world-class trails at the 7Stanes mountain bike centre, to the opportunity to horse ride at Brighouse Bay, play golf or wander through beautiful gardens and admire the seasonal colour. Bird watchers will appreciate the many opportunities to add to their Twitcher's Diary. Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Wigtown are all within easy reach.

Byre by the Sea is a lovely cottage with accommodation all on one level. The owners have used local workers to achieve a high-quality finish which fits in perfectly with the surroundings. The cottage is on a working farm so, although you can't see the farm buildings from the property, you may hear the occasional calf or lamb in a nearby barn. You can see the farm's layout on the owner's website.
Outside: The cottage has an east-facing balcony and a south-facing patio with a barbecue and garden furniture, as well as private off-street parking for two cars, plus lockable storage for bicycles and other sporting equipment.
Additional Information: All utilities, (except fuel for the wood burner,) sheets and bath towels are included. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior agreement from the owner. Guests to provide beach and dogs towels if they are needed. Discounts are offered for lower occupancy (for couples and for guests staying on their own). Byre by the Sea is part of the family-owned Ross Bay Farm and can be booked with one or more of their other cottages to accommodate larger groups of extended family or friends. Smoking is not permitted.
